ERB - can they move????

I just wondered if the ERB ( formerly CRB) is fixed. Only ask because I am sure mine has moved just the tiniest fraction of a mm. It might be me imaginig it but I was sure mine lined up perfectly with the centre of the coronet and the 12 o clock index and it is slightly off centre. I am probably just being anal!!

Is that a picture of the crown of your watch? If so, the coronet is beautifully lined up.

yep it lines up wonderfully and so does everything else so this is why I thought I had seen the ERB move atiny bit! Maybe because I hadn't used my x40 stereo microscope on it which is when I noticed it! It was all the other threads about perfection and peoples expectation for poly-k costing watch.

Dave, I would pop another Peyote button and take a closer look. I'm sure it's not quite as far off as you think. Also, try more magnification if need be cuz 40 x may not be enough.

I haven't come down form the last Peyote button yet!
I use my x40 'scope for other things besode fixating on my watch! It was just when I look - I can see great detail - excellently finished batons, scratch-free finishes and there is a level of detail that comes out at that sort of mag that is often missed!

But in fact, the ERB difference in position is visible to the naked eye in act - because I had remarked to some friends some months ago on how much care was taken in assembly - now I note that I was either wrong or maybe parallax is figuring in the way I saw it.
It's a nice rainy afternoon and I got nothing else to do except watch Jeeves & Wooster on the TV and surf with my ipod...!

No Shit!!

I'd go crazy if I demanded that level of cosmetic perfection on anything. I'm so glad I look at things with my eyes half shut !!

My wife is a different story, she demands 40xloop type perfection from a new car even.
That's too much stress for me to deal with.

Got to agree with Jock do yourself a favour and lock your x40 stereo microscope in a draw out of harms way.

I use the x40 behemoth generally for examinig rock specimens-but I can tell you that even at that mag it is prettymuch perfect! Not usually that anal btw!!
I'll go with Jocke and presume I was wrong first time! If you get the chance took at your rolly very close up and you will see why they cost so much-the hands are finished to perfrection. And also check out the dial lettering- also spot-on!

Nothing wrong with inspecting your Rolex, even to the n-th degree. Discovery is part of the adventure, IMO. Covering your ears and yelling la-la-la or just sticking your head in the sand isn't hardly the explorer spirit now, is it... I don't expect absolute perfection. In fact, any anomalies noted can be useful data in case your watch is stolen. Each one is unique and I want to know just how and in what ways. No loupephobia here...

Exactly - it's fun to get in close and dirty! When I purchase mineral specimens I always check out the crystals for detail and damage - and for meteorites, well, it just gets you close to outta space!

Yes, it's part of the case. For a reason: the serial number at six. It would not be good if the rehaut were interchangeable with another one.

it's set in one spot for sure. the ring is part of the case (all one part) - only thing that moves is the dial.
