Best Rolex men's watch for a woman?
Now that I have my Rolex my wife has strongly signaled she wants one. Actually she pre-signaled if I get one I better plan on getting her one. She does not like dainty girlie watches but does not object to diamonds on a watch (go figure). She has also indicated she likes a mother of pearl dial... does that come on a man's watch? She is trim figured but tall at 5'9" so a bigger watch works on her. Years ago she wore men's watches but for the last decade has collected an assortment of Michele and Coach quartz watches... but is now ready for a real watch.
What are some Rolex watch styles I should consider parading in front of her... nothing too extravagant (I already have designs on a second for myself!)? |

That is exactly what I don't want to have happen!
If I tell her get whatever she likes I might as well mortgage the house. (Think leopard or zebra dial) I would prefer to manage her purchase journey. She is not particularly into on-line research so if I do not bring options to her she will limit herself to whatever the AD has. |

Then I wish you the best of luck.
Every time I have picked out a watch I thought my wife would like she did not like it. Take her to an AD let her pick one out and try it on.

TT Yachtmaster. I know they have dials with precious metals, and I know there is a MOP dial.

No deal man. You're not having my best Rolex for any woman. Find some money and I might sell it to you.

Saw this in the FS forum...thought it would be perfect for your wife. Imagine it with a brown gator strap on it.

I think only 36mm models, however most members recommend 40mm. If it means anything, my wife tends to agree with me on this and she can have any watch she wants.

My wife chose a DJ 36mm on jubilee with a rhodium diamond dial, reference 16234.
She picked it out of the offerings in the Rolex AD display case several years ago and she still loves "her Rolex". My suggestion is that you visit the AD with her and let her choose since she will be the one wearing it. |

My wife wanted one without a date or cyclops and 40mm. I let her pick what she wanted.

I like the Daytona and YM suggestions. Both have MOP dial options.

I was only thinking about DJ, Explorer I and Milgauss and had not considered the Daytona... my fallback to this would be the white-dial SS version. Ultimately I will ask, but wanted to see if the selection in my head was what in line with others' thoughts. |

Best watch for her (and your wallet) would be the DJ 36mm MOP diamond dial.
Affordable, classy and has the 2 things she specifically mentioned. I saw it a few weeks ago with a black MOP dial and it looks stunning. Also for a man. Here is one for sale : http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=343463

It really depends on what kind of look you're going for.
Do you want something that a little more dressy or a more sporty look something's that can dressy and casual at the same time

Without knowing your wife, I would say the safe choice would be a 36mm datejust.
My wife's go to watch is her16610LV. The next one on her list is the new blue dial milgauss. Her 31mm datejust is not neglected but not worn much anymore. I think the 40mm professional watches look good on her wrist and she likes them. The resale value seems to hold up better too with the "mens" watches, which is nice. |

My wife never liked the models I liked for her. I suggest you give her a budget, take her to the AD, and let her pick one out.
The YM with the pearl dial sounds like something she'd like. Good luck. |
