I'm not the expert here but it looks fake. More educated members surely will offer advice.

Try the vintage forum. It looks old to me. Only the rolex crown on the dial but no"rolex" text

Not me. Iffy. The applied gold coronet is normally accompanied with Rolex on the dial.

Looks vintage, but the crown over the box seems wrong. Looks like the crown was just stuck on an aftermarket dial.

Take off the crown logo and it looks more like an old Tudor.

That's not a good picture and I've never seen anything quite like it, but to me, it doesn't look like a cheap watch and it definitely looks old--whatever that adds up to.
The coronet looks real and it looks modern, as in since the 1950s. That doesn't settle anything, but those are my impressions. I can also see Adam's point that it could be a Tudor. And after a few more looks, I'm convinced that whatever it is, it isn't a Rolex.

Looks like a pic of an image on a computer monitor. Could you try to get a worse image?

Rolex never made a 17 jewel watch with the seconds dial at 6 o'clock. It's fake.

You have to be careful fellas. Some of you are pretty fast to make a statement of fact or use the word "fake" when just the opposite is true.
Here is a picture of a 17 jewel Rolex model 4221, with the second hand dial at the 6 o'clock position, in rose gold. This one was made in 1944. . |

'm certain it's not a Rolex. The case and dial look exactly the same as some vintage rail certified Turkish watches. You can find them branded as many different things, apparently they manufactured movements and sold them around. Theoretically also to Rolex, read that only once so don't take my word and it doesnt mean this watch is one. The movement probably is a 17 jewel Cortebert Cal.720 Railroad certified. The coronet on the dial must have been taken from a Chinese knock off because it looks exactly like the fake ones. The rectangle behind it makes no sense and i'm certain Rolex would never pass something like that.
Here's an example http://tickdong.blogspot.ae/2011/02/...-rail-way.html About a year ago maybe a year and a half there were a ton of this ones on ebay even unbranded ones going for 40 to 60 USD. I wanted to buy one for my collection but the shipping was gonna cost me more than the watch by far. |
