I am hooked, jsut not on which one

I have the ich to but another watch and the AP sure have my eye and my thoughts.

In my collection I have Rolexes TT DJII (ivory dial), WG Sub, DDII Platinum (ice dial), SS Daytona (black dial) Patek 5726 (white dial) Breitling Nav.

Looking at the Royal Oak and Royal Oak offshore. Saw a great dark brown strap. Was kind of thinking of a Rose Gold piece but thinking of a ROO but sort of like the strap on these. Is the RO a better buy than the offshore. I don't like small watches, my Daytona is as small as i would ever go. I like to purchase the "right"model of the watches I buy. As I am brand new to AP I want the right one.

Which one is truly the must have piece?

That is an impossible question to answer as it is 100% subjective and everybody has different taste and opinions. Do some research and go try on some watches and come to your own conclusion.

There are so many choices. At the end of the day ANY AP will do quite nicely in my book. RO or ROO makes no difference.

Albeit MY opinion...at least for a ROO (aka - 44mm RG):

I'll be a little more definitive. 15202 is IMO the only "must have" ro. And I'd pass on any roo

If you get a 15400, or even Jumbo at 39, you needn't worry about "too small" as either will wear larger than anything you listed except the Navitimer.

RO 15400 in RG on a strap looks stunning, but that's also the case for the ROOs in RG on a strap. I'd say spend lots of time perusing photos, videos on youtube, and in person before deciding, but you're not gonna go wrong with any of them.

I am a relative newbie in AP and really it is just their ROO line that grabs my attention. I first picked up a 42MM AP ROO Diver, followed by a 44MM AP Novelty in Steel. Based on your comments, I would recommend any of the following:

44MM Novelty - either in Steel or Rose Gold depending on budget.

Latest 42MM ROO - the gray dial is quite nice.

I worry that the 39MM-41MM RO would be too small for your liking.

I'd say the ROO is the one to have if you could only have one. I have both a RO and ROO and love them both, but the ROOs are to die for.

I agree 44RG is the way to go if you are looking for gold.

Is this a foreshadowing of an incoming that I sense, Kevin?

I would get the 15202 RO.

But sounds like you would like a ROO Safari better.

I think the 15202 is a good pick up to add to that collection. I prefer the RO to the ROO as well but it's a very divisive topic with many heated viewpoints:)

Bottom line: get what you want!

RO and ROO both are beautiful pieces.. i personally prefer the RO since i like it big but at the same time not too robust. The new RO/ROC are 41mm but wear as a 43mm.

Based on your existing collection, i think you would fall more onto the RO collection however if you would like to go to something different then opt for the ROO models. Either or will be a great choice..

RG ROC 41mm but wears like a ROO only thinner.

Those are my two APs. If I had to pick one to keep, it would be the ROO. As long as you have one other watch that you can wear with a tighter cuff ;)

Seriously though, you'll need to try a few models on and get what sings loudest to you.

Cheers.

I am hooked, jsut not on which one

I initially fell in love with the ROOs, and they are one of the hottest watches on red carpets right now, but I just picked up a 15300, because the movement is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, you can see it, and it has a great weight and wrist presence. Given a bigger budget I'd love to get the Rose Gold one on the brown strap, but it's so stunning I'd be afraid to wear it.
