Daniel Defoe - Got Yours Yet?
I got a welcome surprise from my 'pen guy' today...he called to let me know that he got in his shipment of the 2014 Writers Series Daniel Defoe pens and that he had mine set aside and ready for me any time. (I wasn't expecting it for another three or four weeks)
I went straight away to the shop and was very happy to see that the pen, in hand, is much better looking than the few photos I had seen of it led me to believe it would be. It is one of the largest - if not the largest - in the series, but is well balanced and has a great feel to it. While I was there, I also spotted the pen commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Meisterstuck. Done in a dark resin with a guilloche finish, this one has rose-gold fittings and a mother-of-pearl end cap...absolutely one of the best-looking pens Montblanc has done in years. The shop is a small, family-owned firm in Houston with unparalleled customer service. I stuck around for a cold beer and a chat with a couple of other pen buffs - it's the kind of place where the owner is almost always there and it's evident that he truly loves what he does. All in all, I great way to while away an hour on a Friday afternoon and I got two new 'toys' in the process. Best, Skip |

Can't speak for the fountain pen...I'm a ballpoint man. I know it flies in the face of reason, but I buy all of my pens, watches, etc. to use and the fountain pent won't hold up to the abuse I heap on them
Should have noted that up front... Best, Skip |

Nice. My former doctor had several Montblanc pens. A wonderful gentleman; very old school with a lot of class. I was bummed when he announced his retirement in 2011.

I am delighted to see the 2104 Writers series release and hope to add it to the collection soon.
I passed on the Balzac last year as it just did not appeal to me. The missing Balzac is the only gap in my writers series since the Virginia Woolf. |

I'm not planning on buying this new pen(looks really nice tho) since it is large in diameter(?)...I will guess. Being that I have small hands...I like the smaller Fountain pens with Nibs which are not larger then XF.......

Probably will get it, in due course. I like the clip design on this one.

Yes, I agree...I like the feather design used for the pocket clip as well and it really highlights and accentuate the pens!!!

Only saw it on the web yesterday and asked dealer already if in stock - yes it is of course. I've not asked my wife yet though!

I plan to stop at the MB boutique in Troy MI on Thursday to take a look at the new Defoe writers series.
The pictures I've seen posted look great. Looks like a nice addition for my collection. |

It's here
Here we go. Crap picture, but lined it up with my other fountain pens. Who can tell me what the ornate silver pen is on the right?
