Is it free to have my watch authenticate at the Rolex Service Center in NYC?

Just bought a Submariner for $6850 brand new online.

Can I have this authenticated at the Rolex Service Center in NYC?

Can't hurt to walk in and find out. From who did you buy it?

If you purchased from an AD you should not be concerned

I bought mine from the original owner. He bought it and kept it for a few months before selling it. Being completely new to Rolex and buying a used one I of course was very cautious. Based on my 100% feedback (still is 100%) the guy trusted me to send the watch to me and bring it to RSC and have it authenticated. I can't exactly remember the details, but RSC checked it out.. I think I even added a link.. then I promptly wired the money to the seller. That was 14 years ago. It's been back to RSC since then for regular servicing and I happily wear almost every day. I don't recall if they charged me or not for authenticating. Maybe not since I was buying a link?

Umm... I think one way you would find out is to possibly get it authenticated for free would be to get a request for service? I think they probably would pop the watch open and would notify you if there was an issue. The only risk to that is you might not get it back if it is not authentic! If you bought it from a reputable dealer or AD, I doubt you would have much to be concerned about.

You can post photos here and based on the outside many people here can spot a fake just by some good photos.

As for the inside you would need someone to open the case and most watchmakers will charge for that. Plus it would need to be pressure tested after it was put back on so I doubt anyone would do it for free.

Yes you can, sort of. You can drop it off for service and when they get to it if it's counterfeit they'll throw it in the shredder. If they don't you'll know it's real.

I don't think he bought it from an AD because he said he purchased it online. AD's do not sell Rolex online.

It's not free, they don't do it here in Dubai and they don't even check serial numbers if u give it to them.
As far as I know Rolex Argentina does it. I don't know if free or not.

Another way is to take it to a dealer and ask how much they'll give you for it. They'll check it out and make you an offer if its real.

I bought it from Jomashop, can anyone confirm if they sell real or fakes? Paid $6850.

As far as I know they are legit. They've been around a long time. Any complaints I see on the net are about bad servicing of a watch but nothing about fakes.

You watch is probably real if you bought it from them, but I'm always wary of watch dealers that fix Rolex...most do not have parts account and/or are not certified so there could be aftermarket parts or a bad servicing.

They are reputable as far as I know, but you do not get the Rolex warranty nor the Rolex warranty card. Jomashop provides their own warranty.

Really. Sometimes I think Rolex collecting would be the perfect hobby for armchair adrenaline junkies.

Hahahaha!!! Indeed... I can imagine dressing up in workout gear, slamming 4 Red Bulls and heading down to China-town with a fist full of 20 dollar bills
on the off chance that 1 out of the 20 Rolexs you buy might be real! Definite adrenaline boost and not for the faint of heart..

Because it was a sale, I was late and bought it at $6850. My friend bought the submariner with date at $5500 when the sale first started. Price jumped to $6850 when I hesitated.

I wonder the same thing.

Too many, "I just purchased this Rolex, is it real" threads. Authentication come before -- not after the sale!!!!!
