Royal Oak or Vacheron Constantin dual time?

Both have the same designation for the GMT models, one is 39mm while the other, the VC, is 42mm, the RO is steel bracelet, the VC is nice in titanium with leather/rubber strap, you have one of each when you buy it, the price new from grey dealer is more or less the same for a new piece.

Can't download a pic from the site so here's a link to the VC:

http://www.vacheron-constantin.com/f...7450-000w-9511

Same thing for the RO so here's the link:

http://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/wat...k#!CO:RO.EP:CO

Both are great looking IMO, the VC being more modern and using titanium.

I understand that the debate will be biased this being a AP forum, but what do you think of both models, their pluses and minuses, knowing that I am cutting down on my collection and aiming for a 3 watch collection, 2 of which are ordered, the Rolex Hulk, sub c LV, and the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5712.

Which according to you would be the perfect third to complete the trio?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advices

AP, but i would go for the Jumbo instead.
I like the Vacheron but i feel the RO design is really iconic.

You might want to consider how much value it is likely to hold, unless you are sure you won't flip it.
Reading some of your other threads, you seem to be quite active these days buying and flipping watches. If i were you, i would just wait until i find something i really love, especially if 3 watches is the max. My 2 cents...

I'd opt for the AP between the two. The Royal Oak is iconic.

In general I prefer the Royal Oak, but for the dual time complication I like the aesthetics of the VC a lot better. Just make sure you won't want to sell the VC down the line.

Well in fact I bought a few watches in the last 2 years, and most of them was not wearing most of them they were just sitting in the safe, was wearing all the time my BLNR, and before that my sub LN, so decided to flip them all, except the BLNR, I liked the Blancpain but decided to get a Nautilus, and a Hulk that I wanted for a long time, so I will have the PP 5712 in SS, the Hulk, the BLNR, and hesitating for another one, but one thing is for sure, I won't flip the Hulk or the Patek, not sure about the BLNR, either will keep it or maybe flip it if I find another watch that I really like, but like you say I will wait for a while until I find something I really love, which is the case for the Hulk and the Patek.

Royal Oak or Vacheron Constantin dual time?

I find the VC to be a little too flat on the wrist...

Not a dual time but same case - had it next to my ROO

Either way, I'd go AP

AP but I must say I don't like the dual time very much. You already have a gmt...no need to clutter the dial on the RO IMHO.

Yes but I decided to go for a 3 piece collection vs my 7 piece now, so if ever I buy another watch, I will have the Hulk, Patek 5712 and if I do find a piece that I really love I will flip the BLNR, so in fact I won't have a GMT anymore if I find a "grail" watch, but I will wait and look for a very long time before buying it, I love the Hulk for a few years now, fell in love with the PP 5712, where the BLNR is involved I like it a lot, great everyday watch, but can't say that it's a piece that I really love, and the whole point of the 3 piece collection is to have 3 very complementary pieces, and pieces that you really love that will each get reasonable amount of wrist time.

Anyways after seriously thinking it over I decided to rule out the VC, can't say if I will get a RO, either dual time or maybe better just the simple dial, in blue version, with see through case back, but it's a possibility, like this I would have the 2 masterpieces of Gerald Genta from the 70's which are so iconic that even today they are some of the best classy sport watches on the market, anyways will have to try the RO, wether simple or dual to see how it looks and feels on me as I have never tried one on.

There you go....now you're talking. Not a fan of either dual time pieces you were considering. I think your collection is crying out for an icon RO. Choose from either the 15400, 15300 or the 15202. Can't go wrong with any of those.

Very possible, especially having the Patek 5712, if I add an icon RO I would have in my trio the 2 masterpieces designed by Gerald Genta, hard to believe that the RO with was designed 42 years ago and the Nautilus designed 38 years ago are so iconic and have many watch maniacs, that's us , drooling over them, when I tried the 5712 I just adored the thin case and bracelet, will see if I have the same feeling with the RO.

Incredible that such an old design

Okay I understand. I can't blame you the hulk is special. I can't seem to take mine off my wrist lately.

You've received this advice before, but IMHO slow it down. There is no rush as the blnr is a sensational piece as well.

I'm not a fan of VC. In fact, I really feel JLC should take their place in the holy trinity. Maybe that's just me though...

Agree 100%, JLC is a fantastic brand, the Duomètre models are just unbelievable, I like a few models from VC, but for me JLC leaves them behind by 10 miles…

It's not a very long time I am interested in very high end brands, before was into Rolex, Panerai, Omega, so no expert here, but in my opinion the 5 top are PP, ALS, JLC, AP, and for the last place hard to choose a winner, for me it should be 1 of the following but incapable to choose the right one:

Bréguet, Blancpain, Piaget, and VC...
