Does Scotch Brite green pad work on brushed Gold as good as with SS?

I have had success in the past on my SS Rolex's with Scotch Brite on the brushed part of the link. Does anyone know if i would have similar success on a gold link or would this only make it worse?

The 7447 scotch brite pad does work for the BRUSHED links on 18k gold. One or two lite strokes going with the grain just like your SS will make it look like new.

Thank you, I was pretty sure it was the same as SS but I wanted to verify before laying it down on the gold. I appreciate the affirmation!

I believe he is referring to the brushed links. It would ruin the polished links. I like Sunshine polishing cloths for the polished.

Yes, the 7447 is the maroon pad; the green one will not yield the right finish...

I'm inclined to believe it would take fewer and less forceful strokes to brush the gold. However, I confess I have no real experience here. Perhaps you should approach it very conservatively in terms of pressure and number of strokes?

This is the best approach for all of us amateurs on any Rolex, not just gold...

Yes light careful strokes and tape up the polished parts. I carelessly cape cod-ed an old SS watch's bezel and wiped half the AR off my crystal.

Feel free to throw stones.. I know its nothing but i thought a light stroke would correct it. Its more noticeable IRL. The Polished link actually looked much worse but I believe I successfully took care of that last night.

OK- I will go against all my urges to do something about this and not do anything till the end of this week. If by Friday I don't think about it anymore I will leave as is !

It looks fine and if you ask me doesnt need any correction. If it would be me I would leave it as is. You may correct it very easy with scotchbrite, yes, but keep in mind that you may need to do the whole bracelet and not only one link, to match the "corrected" link!! The grain would not look exactly the same, it will be really close but not the same.

I would leave that mark. Not worth disturbing the original straight factory finish for imo.
Green could be a bit harsh on gold. I have some grey pads though I'm not sure of the manufacturer - A chap who does car panel work gave them to me. They are a finer grain and leave a brighter finish more akin to Rolex factory. Using soap and water when brushing also helps take the bite off when refinishing. No way would I dry brush a gold piece.
