Problem With Payment from Antiquorum Auctions !!
I consigned a few items with them for their April 9th 2014 New York auction.
The items sold and it's now almost the end of August 2014 ( almost 4 months ) and I still have not been paid... What is worse is that when I call them, I get sent to voice mail with the standard response that the person you are looking for is not here. I send emails and they do not get replied to.. I had thought that these anticts where behind them.. Are there any other sellers that are experiencing the same game of " the run around " ?. I would imagine that there must be a New York State office that oversees the auction companies and how they operate ? My patience is beyond growing thin.. |

I also thought these anticts were behind them. (4 months, way to long). Thanks for posting and let us know how you make out.

Write a letter to the New York state attorney general, and cc them. This usually gets peoples attention.

Start writing some letters. Even if they are not BBB accredited. The letters still motivate.

Oddly, Antiquorum had scheduled an auction in NYC for 9/17, and it has now been moved to 9/30.

New York City has a Department of Consumer Affairs that regulates Business that operate in the City of New York, I will forward them my consignment agreement and correspondence...If enough people complain this nonsense will be over..

Just my 2¢ - this would be a contract dispute since it was a consignment vs. a consumer transaction. Also, wouldn't fit a criminal charge (yet) - but oftentimes filing a debt lien on their assets gets some attention.

My personal experience with the Melbourne (Australia) branch of this company was unfavourable and I would never deal with them again.

Hey Bighouses, I posted on another board in response to your situation.
I too used Antiquorum to sell my Rolex ref. 6200 in their June Hong Kong auction (the one on the back of their catalog). The watch sold for just under 6 figures and we've been getting the run around on payment. The CFO finally spoke with my wife and said he would send us a payment schedule immediately. That was 2 days ago, and we have yet to receive any such e-mail. He told us we would be paid by the end of next week, but at this point it's impossible to trust them at their word. Has anything worked out yet? please post what ever finding you make. at this point I'm getting very close to contacting the New York attorney General as well the dept of consumer affairs as you have. I'm eager to her your updates. |
