I have watched the video in this article many times and I've always wondered how on Earth something like this could happen, but it almost always appears in compilations or collections where there are videos of many people driving cars that are beyond their skill level.

On the insurance side, it's a hard car to insure. Some of these specialty cars sky rocket in value even when new. The new La Ferrari is selling on the secondary market at double it's MSRP. I think like $3.4 mil.

Stupid on the owners side nonetheless. Not worth the risk.

Although the car is not considered classic, a lot of classic car insurance companies will insure them under their exotic definition and are covered on declared agreed value.. Unlike our regular cars covered under ACV actual cash value, which in simple terms mean depreciated value...

I'm glad he got caught, it hurts us regular folks with higher premiums...

That's the top end of the statutory penalty for wire/mail fraud - it's only there for punishment of crimes that have devastating impacts on innocent victims (like ponzi schemers).

Probably will get some time in the cooler though since he definitely deigned to defraud.
