16610 - Random serial or holes case+SEL?
Getting another 16610 and wondering which one to choose as a long time keeper... SEL and holes case is a rare bird and so is the last batch of 16610 with random serial.
Thoughts? |

The older one. More practical, and cheaper. But not rare.

Of course condition is king, but I would go for a model with drilled-through lugs and SELs

I am leaning towards the lug holes / SEL too... True, it is much cheaper... :)

Can I expect the random to decrease in value?

Just buy the one you like, because you won't get any more enjoyment out of a watch if you're worried about resale value. For me, I have a Sub-C, so I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 16610 case with lug holes. |

Lug holes.
But then I'm partial. I've owned 2 Rolexes and both were lug hole/Sel combos. |

No Rolex has ever increased on value based on what it's serial number is..
If you are looking for possible future attributes that collectors/enthusiasts may find interesting it will be the couple of years that they made SEL/holes cases.
