Rolex Red Submariner on eBay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Vintage...item27ebac9c65

Hey Guys:

We have here a "genuine" 1970 Rolex Red Sub for sale; only problem is that the only original parts on the watch are the case and the movement...

Replacement "SWISS" dial with luminova paint
Replacement hands
Replacement insert
Late model 93150 bracelet

At least the asking price is right for a nice Red Sub!

Run away; run away.....

I saw that as well. Is it a legitimate Red service dial?

I'm confused as to why you would suggest to run.

The piece is clearly described as Luminova replacement dial with full records of replacement and service performed. All genuine Rolex parts from my observation, just not the original dial that the watch was born with.

Service parts are normal and many would consider this desirable if they want modern features combined with a vintage piece.

What's wrong? The seller clearly states that some parts are service replacements..

All authentic, even if not period correct, but no aftermarket parts, so no fake. Everything on RSC paper. What is the issue?

Only thing: Way overpriced (should not even reach 10k)

That was my point if not stated clearly; nothing fake but nothing original for such a high price...

Go for the real deal for that money....

Perhaps the guy is not a fan of a watch having patina? If its all authentic rolex parts then I don't see the problem. Just because he thinks its worth 10k doesn't mean someone might pay that.. and if he gets 10k.. then someone thought it was worth it. As for me if I was looking into a Red sub I would want the patina / original stuff.

I don't know what I will do when my sub starts getting patina.. in some ways I love it looking as shiny and new as possible. In other ways.. I've had it a while and it's nice to age gracefully

I thought I read on here recently that the red luminova service dials might be getting discontinued. Can't find the thread right now, but if that's true, that could definitely affect the value of these things in the future imho.

14k is pretty crazy, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone takes it for 10-12k. Sweet watch, regardless.

I love the look of the vintage "mixed with the modern" with the Red RSC service dial! These dials are absolutely getting harder to find and this will reflect in value as time goes on. As you suggested, I suspect now discontinued. Beautiful watch!
