voice server - ventrilo

would anyone here be interested in using a voice server if i were to set one up? all you would need is a working microphone and they're simple to use.

it's like having a conference call that you can pop into anytime and talk with people. you can talk one on one or as a big group.

if there are enough people here that would be interested in trying it out, i'll set one up.

Good idea David, but what's the difference between this and Skype?

i've never used skype so i'm not exactly sure how it works. i think skype is telephone like?

this is essentially an online voice meeting place. it's incredibly simple and versatile. communication can be one on one or there can be different rooms i.e. modern, vintage, other brands, etc. that could have many people talking together as a big group. think of it as the forums with voice.

Skype is a software where you have conferences too and use your camera too

You also have the ability to create your own skypecast

Ventrilo is much easier to configure for groups. It would be ideal for those who like to voice chat here. Skype is getting better at this, but isn't at Ventrilos level yet.
