I've had my GMTII for about six weeks now. When the light is just right I see a number of tiny swirls and scratches on the PCLs and the clasp. In all other situations, all that I or anyone else sees is a beautiful unmarked watch. I'm not sure if these swirls and scratches were there on day one of ownership because I didn't think to look that closely. And.....since I'm a fairly cautious wearer I'm not even sure how they happened.

As someone who has never (or usually never) been afraid to use a Cape Cod on every scratch that came along, I decided up front to let this Rolex age gracefully and naturally. It feels good and I am enjoying this Rolex more than any other I have had so far.

I asked my doctor if she could use Botox on my watch, to eliminate the scratches. She got a laugh out of it, but no. I'll try rub some wrinkle removal cream, see what happens. Otherwise, it will age gracefully. And now I have a gold Rolex to obsess over

Yup, shcratches happen. Take 'em out at service or leave 'em and don't worry about it.

Ron, you got right to the heart of the matter. A watch worn in the normal course doesn't accentuate scratches like it does when it's closely examined. When you think about it, how often do you see a watch on another person and the only thing you see are the fine line scratches and dings of a beat up watch? Probably never.

I think the sport models look good with a little wabi sabi. After you get a couple months of patina on them they'll look even better than when they were shiny and new.

As long as it's not rally deep scratches and dings don't worry. Esp on polished links it's really bound to happen unless you keep watch inside a safe which is not fun

My TT Sub is only 4 months old. I am very careful and yet, there are lots of swirl marks on the PCLs. I have some on every watch I own, that is life!
