Hello from another canuck...

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around your site for a few days now, and thought it was time I said hello. I'm from Winnipeg, which is about halfway between the right side and the left side of a Canadian map. I'm an air traffic controller (CYAV) who adores riding bikes, drinking espresso (made on my Andreja Premium, for you caffeine junkies) and eating fine american BBQ- pork butts and beef brisket that I've made on my ceramic cooker.

As for timepieces, I've got a couple Balls (no, really, a Night Train and a Cleveland Express), an Oris, a Fortis GMT, and a Concord.

The reason I'm here is because it is time to step up to the plate. I've decided that it I would like an Explorer II or a GMT Master.

I've enjoyed reading your posts and I look forward to reading whatever you may have to say about my Rolex desires.

Welcome Mike! GMT Master is a great piece especially in your line of work.

I had a chance to wear a GMT Master II for a few minutes when my bro in law wore his.

The Explorer II and the GMT-II are both fine watches, you can't go wrong with either of them. Personally I like them both, but the GMT-II wins hands down for versatility, as you can change the bezels, but you already knew that.

I suggest you try on both models and go for the one that appeals most to you.

With the rotatable bezel of the GMT II, however, you get the ability to read off a third time zone from the bezel. A third time zone option is not availible with the Explorer II since its bezel is fixed.

But you really can't go wrong with either.

The Exp and GMT are both classics. I prefer the movable bezel on the GMT.

Welocme buddy! From a fellow Canuck to another I'm pretty new to the forum as well. Is it still cold there? Vancouvers not too bad right now its sunny but windy. Yeah you cant go wrong with the gmt2! helluva watch and not too pricey. Have a nice one and enjoy it here!
