Incoming? Is this what I'm supposed to do?

The fiancι and I were on a cruise over the summer and we walked into the boats jewelry store and they had some used rolexi for sale. They had a decent selection for a cruise ship , about 13 of them. She's been saying that she wants a men's president since I've met her. They had one with a diamond bezel and they assured us it was 100% original rolex. She bought it. I thought it was overpriced and I still do. I checked the serial and it was from 1991. The salesman was trying to tell us he could get 50 for it. Such an idiot. We went back the next day and she bought herself a DJ with a diamond bezel and I got a tt DJ. I wasn't happy with her spending all this money especially on a cruise ship but I had my first rolex and I really really liked it. The nicest watch I've ever had before was a movado that I bought with points from a casino card.
Everything was great until we took showers with them on. The DD and my DJ both fogged up in the shower. We knew something was wrong. We started looking closer at the paper work and her bezel was 14k gold which Rolex doesn't use. We decided to return all the watches. I was upset but I did get the itch to get one someday.
When we got home I found this site and it has been most informative. I really like reading all the threads. I didn't know there were so many different styles of Rolex. I had decided on getting an explorer ii I liked the way it looked and it wasn't flashy. I hadn't seen one in person but I felt I would love it when I did.
So the fiancι wanted to take her ladies president in for service. It had some problems and it hadn't been serviced in 10 years. We went to the local mall and went to tourneau. They had a nice selection of watches. She tried on a men's DD and a DDii she loved the DD. I tried them on also and wow very nice. While she was doing the paperwork for her service I tried on an explorer with white face. I liked it but it wasn't working for me. I also tried on the milgauss and I would have loved it if it had a date. Very nice watch. I also tried on a gmt ii and I loved it. I know it's smaller than the explorer but it felt and looked bigger. I let the fiancι know and she said "let's get it". I was floored. I wanted to say No but I couldn't bring myself to. I really wanted it. So after 30 minutes I had my first Rolex and I can't stop looking at it.
Now I can finally make my first thread here. Hopefully my picture came out.

Great story. Sometimes it's not about agonizing over the purchase, and just saying "let's just do it." I'm glad you were able to return those junk watches from the cruise.

Unfortunate the boat even had a jewelry store selling fakes. Glad you found the real deal.

I also have been on a lot of cruise ships never saw a Rolex for sale. I am curious what cruise line would do this.

Thank you. She is a great gal. She's even letting me marry her on dec 13 so I'll never forget our anniversary.
It was a carnival cruise. The watches were definitely Rolex they just used after market parts for service. The best part was the fellow trying to tell us that not all rolexes were waterproof. I'm just glad we decided before we got off the boat. It would have been a pain in the butt afterwards.
