Something's Fishy!

Been wearing the SBBN015 Tuna for a few days and it's everything I thought it would be and fills that quartz grab-and-go void perfectly! Its 7C46 movement has been spot-on at +/-0 seconds a day according to the USNO clock.



I must say that when I opened the box I was taken aback by the size in that you think it's going to be huge at 48mm diameter. At that moment you realize just how much lugs play their role in making a watch bigger. As you can see the dial is just slightly larger than the Submariner. You can also see how big the 43mm diameter SNDA57 looks with its lugs and all that open dial -- It's like an optical illusion.





Comparing this Tuna to the 116613 wouldn't be fair to the Tuna even though it's beautiful and surprisingly comfortable… If I gave the Sub a 10 out of 10 for comfort I'd have to give the Tuna a sold 8.5/10 and maybe even a 9 on a good day.

I was going to do a comparison to the SBDX001 MM300 but realized it would be too difficult in that both have their pluses and minuses. Not to mention both and are very different watches despite being close cousins in the Seiko family tree.

But overall there's no doubt it's worth every bit of the $960 I paid. I'm quite happy with it!

Tunas look great, no fantastic, on an isofrane. It's like they were made for each other. Great watch! I'll probably have another at some point.

I gotta ask... During your first tuna unveiling weren't you surprised by the size of the 300m version? It's a big watch no doubt but no more than a Breitling Steelfish. In fact, it wears similarly to it on the ProII bracelet which is great. I have no doubt the 1000m versions are bigger but this one is totally manageable and downright comfy.

Thinking about sourcing another shroud, having it pvd or cerakote black, then going for an orange isofrane.

love the japanese day indicators. I might have to pick me up a seiko with those.

I too am surprised that's a 48mm. I've tried on a 44mm AP ROO and it also looked way bigger than that.

FYI it has English days too. My wife is second generation speaks it fluently and can even read old kanji. Nearly two decades together and I regretfully speak hardly anything... I she glady wrote-off the purchase

I'll need to take a better direct wrist shot later as there's still a good 1/4" at the top and bottom of my 6.5" wrist.

The 7C46 is quite impressive with a great pedigree and there's plenty written about it if you search... It's a jeweled hi-torque, fully servicable movement with great accuracy made just for the tuna line.

My wife is from Japan and I am 4th generation but I still don't speak much of anything; although I think I would at least would be able to recognize the kanji for the days from my high school Japanese classes
