This one is tough... or is it?

Hi all,

Just wanted to start by thanking you all for such a warm welcome, It feels great to be part of a watch loving community (as cheesy as it sounds)

right straight to the point... the initial thoughts was a dj2 and a PO, but I went in to my AD and he showed me a daytonna. I have always liked the daytonna and as you know my only other watch is a SUBC date, so i never really considered the daytonna.

but know i am starting to think i wouldn't mind a white dial daytonna to contrast with my sub. my only concern is the daytonna looked tiny (I genuinely thought it was a womens watch). Yes I know it is the same size as the sub but it looks so much smaller and tbh i only handled it for a couple of mins as I was too busy inspecting date just 2's.

I would love to hear your thoughts all about the daytonna and what your second watch would be if you was in my position. I am 27 and I am a chartered accountant so I am suited mostly but that doesn't stop me rocking my sub everyday lol

(yes i know a lot of you will rightly say - it doesn't matter coz u will end up with both in the end lol - but for know what are your thoughts?)

Also just to spice things up - what are your thoughts on the milgaus? I will probably take the plunge in a couple of weeks

I would say definitely go try it on your wrist, and have a long look at it in the AD. A white dial daytona would be a perfect pairing to your Sub
The SubC does wear large for 40mm as you know but you would soon get used to the daytona with a little wrist time, I'm sure of it!

Don't wear a watch for a few days and then go try the Daytona would be my advice

Hi, unfortunately size does matter IMO and I also think the Daytona is on the small size compared to a SubC. Great size for a woman but the Daytona would be much better sized if put in a larger case.

I like the style of the Daytona, especially a few of the gold model dials. What always stops me from getting one is the screw down pushers. I time things all the time at work and at home, from drug administration to parking meters. The screw pushers would annoy me to no end.
As for size, I guess I am in the minority now thinking 40mm is plenty big. It is thin and elegant, that's the idea. If you want a bold flashy statement piece, Hublot, AP, Omega PO, Brietling, Panerai, etc. all have 44 mm+ Extra thick chronos that might be a better choice for you.

It's just that from time to time i look at the sub and think this is small and other times i think its perfect, I am still getting used to it tho, I have only had it 6months.

What are you asking? Are you asking if you should choose the daytona over the DJ or PO? If so I would advice for that. The daytona is a fantastic watch and I believe is almost a cross between Rolex's sportier watches, like your sub, and their dressier watches like the DJII.

If you're asking if the daytona is too small then as everyone else already said, go try it on and see what you think.

For one who owns a sport watch already, maybe the next one should be the DJII- the Daytona can be #3 one day.

If you're having trouble with your manhood and believe that a "big watch" is the answer, perhaps a Daytona isn't going to appeal to you..

At 6' tall and 200lbs, I don't have issues at all with wearing a Daytona - any time..

I'm 6' and 185lbs and have no worries either. I can't for the life of me understand people getting bent out of shape over the size of a watch. Unless you have arms like tree trunks or matchsticks, it really doesn't matter.

I think a white Daytona would be the perfect partner for a SubC. Size is no problem. It's the most comfortable Rolex I've ever worn.

Different brand, different watch. But the omega 57 does not have the screw down pushers.

It's vintage inspired and a fantastic watch.

A few dial options and a few K less than the daytona. It's 41.5, so not necessarily elegant as you say, but IMHO neither is the daytona. It's a sport watch thru and thru. And I like that about it.

Personally, screw down pushers or no, for me doesn't matter. And I love just about every iteration of the daytona.

But if it's an issue to you, it's worth looking in to.

Size matters. Try it on again and see but don't force it, if it doesn't feel right then pass. You have to love the watch not the idea of the watch.

To OP, try both on and see what sings to you. Totally different watches. Daytona is a rolex classic if you are into collecting.
