Watch: where do i start??

Panerai repair.

as you all know my panerai was sent into to serivce and some interesting info was given to me by the NY head office when i contacted them about my 3 1/2 month repair time which is a joke and I think the TX service center needs to get it together as i have not heard good things...

anyway she said that all their floors are rubber so if by chance something gets dropped it will not cause a ding or scratch on the watch (inless it bounces back and hits into the wood watch makers table) LOL

also she said that all tools used are plastic tipped so there will be 0 scratches or marring of the screw heads when being taken apart.. until they get into the mov inside thats where the metal tools come into play..

just some interesting info for yall.. I hoep i get my watch back sooner than the july 20th quote they gave me.. the watch is 3 weeks old and now it needs a new case and i have to wait this long... talk about upsetting news. ontop of it i got my new strap from ABP france and have been wanting to post some pictures but have no watch to put it on!!

i called NY to talk to someone higher up to see if they can try to bring my repair time down to a more fair time frame like the usual 4 to 6 weeks... will see i guess...

Wow, sorry for your troubles, King. But thank you for this valuable info.

Is this a common Panerai thing? Or is your watch suffering some unique malady?

Good luck.

M.

Have heard similar situations from a few people after the center moved to TX.

I don't get the part where you say your watch is 3 weeks old and needs a new case?

Did something happen to your watch?

I don't really care

I don't really care, I bought a PAM 236 on May 19th which had to be returned the very next day for an end link fitting, they had to send it in for repairs it will take them 8 weeks or more to get it done, still no news from them.

For a $12,000 watch not to be perfect at the time of purchase is in itself unacceptable, to take this long to fix it is once more unacceptable, that was my first and probably my last Panerai purchase. Next watches will be JLC and Rolex branded exclusively the worst part is that I truly love the Panerai design and how it feels on my wrist but I am done with the brand... The watch is paid for and I have nothing to show for it while someone else is collecting interest on my money, not a good feeling and that's all I have to say about this issue.

I should have simply just asked for my money back walk a block east and bought a JLC that day ...

Have you seen the new JLC price list, it got sent with the 2008 catalogue.

Yikes! Glad i'm getting mine in a few weeks at a very old discounted price, no way do i want to cough up the new prices.

But JLC is nice, drool... all the Master Control Range and the Reverso Sun Moon kick!

They are no worst than the Panerai prices, in fact they are better than the Panerai prices when you consider what you get for your money, my next watch is an Extreme World Chrono, end of the story - that's the watch I was going to buy in the first place, but bought the beater first... Go figure...

many ppl have received the defected J series models.. the early J series had defects with the new strap change button under the lugs. ppl where losing their buttons. just popping clean out of the watch. since they cannot replace the button, the watch needs a new case.. Now mine didn't pop out, it jammed down and caused one end of the bracelet to fall and the watch slid off my wrist onto my granite counter top. i was left with a beautiful dent in my lower lug and some great scratches all around. the mov needs work for fast time keeping and since certain parts are not kept on hand at panerai I have to wait till PASC TX sends my case back to swiss and they then have to make a new case from scratch to order which would explain the wait. they had me down for a new case back which they would need to re engrave my seriel numbers in but that made the wait time turn into 6 months... so i said no way, keep the damn case back i already have and just replace the case, so that brought it back down to 3 1/2 months.. what a great first panerai experience. cool looking watches with ETA mov inside and a very bad service dept in TX... I'm starting to think twice about this watch i will say regardless how much i like the way panerai's look.
