16610 or 116610?
Just curious what you think... preferences, and why??
Thanks |

i feel like unless you're hardcore collecting a rare vintage piece or it has some sentimental value to you or strongly prefer the looks of the vintage piece, you should go for the newer ceramic model for actual daily wear.
the bracelet feels MUCH better and the entire watch is just shiny and pretty! |

The new one if nothing else just the bracelet alone is a tremendous upgrade!
Throw in the ceramic bezel, lume, maxi dial, case, ya got a great updated state of the Rolex art! https://www.bernardwatch.com/blog/ro...10-comparison/ |

Having owned a 16610 LN and a 116610 LV at the same time and putting aside the colour differences, I would go for the 116610. The upgrades such the Glidelock clasp and Solid centre links are enough for me.
Don't get me wrong, the 16610 is a fine timepiece, but the 116610 perfects what was started by the 16610.

Great input... thanks... I just like the narrower case of the 16610... wish the bracelet and ceramic bezel were options on the 16610!

Hang around...plenty of people prefer the 16610, too (it's a classic Rolex design after all, and not everyone likes the ceramic bezel or new bracelets). There are quite a few threads on this very topic that you can find with the search function.

I have owned ceramic subs (116610 & 114060) and "classic" subs (16610 & 16610LV). Today I still have the 114060 & the 16610. I do like the ceramic upgrades but candidly love the aesthetics of the 16610 more. The bracelet, clasp & maxi dial on the newer ceramics are great but there is just something about the 16610. Just saying.... I am keeping my 114060 but the vote here goes for the "classic". I am sure others will chime in |

I am a bit biased at the moment cause I just got a new ceramic sub, so I've been a bit obsessed with it, but I also own a 16610 and aside from the other obvious differences mentioned already, you should definitely keep in mind the sizing, proportions and price.
You will likely be able to get into a nice example of the older 16610 for almost a couple thousand less than the 116610. As for the size I can tell you first hand as im sure you know the 116610 wears like a much bigger watch, and feels beefier. It definitely has a more contemporary look and feel too it because of this. Although the 16610 may not be "vintage" rolex, the case shape and style of the watch will certainly have a more vintage look and feel than the new 116610. To me the features of the new ceramic subs are outstanding and really make the 16610 seem outdated. However I will never sell my first sub! Good luck! |

I personally prefer the slimmer lugs on the 16610. But the bracelet and bezel are a huge improvement on the 116610. I strongly recommend that you try both on your wrist before making your decision. You won't go wrong with either. Good luck and congratulations in advance!

LISTEN!!!
I bought the 14060M which is the same idea as the 16610. My best friend has a 114060 and I have tried it on - I MUCH prefer the smaller and more proportionate case size of mine!! IMO go for the 16610, it has perfect proportions and is modern enough. The bracelet is not bad and can be micro adjusted with a toothpick. Make sure you look up youtube videos for both models. I can NOT get around the large case size of the 116610 - it is way to big especially for people with small wrists like mine. I can not recommend the 14060(M)/16610 enough! Bottom line: the 116610 and 16610 argument is about 50:50 - about half people like the new design half like the old. Make sure you aren't just listening to one side of the story. |

The 16610 looks much better. I also prefer the older bracelets that are incredibly comfortable.

You will not be unhappy with a 16610, I've had two over the years, both were 2005 models or newer.
I will say that after much hesitation, I recently bought a Sub (no date)114060 and love it. I was not a fan of the larger case and maxi dial for quite a while, but it grew on me and I made a great choice. Sold my 14060m to help fund the purchase. Try them both on if at all possible side by side for comparison, that is the best way to decide, IMO.

I can tell you this, and it won't help, but you can't lose with either model. As much as I love the older ones, I would steer you toward new. The upgraded bracelet is really something, but other features are outstanding. Also, there are hazards and pitfalls buying the older one if you aren't well versed in buying second hand. Prices are so high on those older ones in "new old stock" condition, you might as well buy the new model.

Make sure you can live with the old type of clasp before you consider a 16610.
