Question about a rolex submariner no date U-serial dial

Hey I'm new to this forum, and everyone seems very helpful and knowledgable.
I'm new to rolexes in general , I saw an older Submariner non-date U-Serial for sale online. (eBay jewelry seller, has mostly rings, only two watches)
. My question is was there u-serial number (which from what I've read is from 1998-99) with "Swiss made " on the dial?

The watch may have come with a "Swiss" only and or could have been replaced along the way to a Swiss Made...

I sure hope so, since I have one 14060 U-series with "SWISS" on the dial. The watch has Luminova.

I attached pictures of the watch in question, seller said he's not sure about the dial, since he is not the original owner, though he did guarantee that it's all Rolex parts.
makes me suspicious but he did extend an invitation to his shop that's an hour drive away. what do you guys think?

You are getting too caught up with the "chart" guesses and forum myth.

It is well known that U serials, A serials, and P serials were all in play during the 98/99 "Swiss" dial era. But these serials were not suddenly only made on certain dates as these charts would make you believe. They all covered at least 3 to 4 years from when they were first seen in the market place and there was always carryover. In the case of the U serial that could easily carry it into 2000 when they went to "Swiss Made".

Things are just not cut and dried or cast in stone with Rolex production practices..

The litmus test is that it is only 15 or so years for this watch, much too young to have needed a dial change.. However, if it was an early U serial then it would have been Tritium and may have been changed to make it functional.

A new dial on this watch should not affect it's value at all, but it would provide a functional watch if the latter condition.

A good news is that the inlay bezel is the original for an U series

Is it polished or it is just the photos ?

That box with the ring to hold the watch is good for a k to F series . So just like three years after the production of a U series.
