Used Rolexes on walmart.com?
Yikes. I saw a banner ad on ebay advertising used Rolexes on Walmart.com. I double checked and went to their website and searched for Rolex. It's true. They sell refurb watches. It's lacking some pretty import details such as ref# etc.

Seems they are being sold from Overstock.com in partnership with Walmart. Interesting combination...

Wow!!!
If they have a layaway plan then even toothless Billy Bob can sport one

I rarely post, but have always enjoyed the forum. One thing I have always appreciated is the many members who are obviously wealthy, but respond with genuine excitement for other enthusiasts as they acquire their pieces (incoming threads, etc.). It's not my intention to make a case for or against the various outlets for used Rolex watches, but rather to impart something I was once told by a member/moderator here that I have a tremendous amount of respect for. He referred to the forum, hobby, sickness(LOL) as a gentleman's club. Through every discussion or transaction I have participated in with the members here, I have found that to be true. Lately, it seems that there are a lot of comments like a few in this thread that would paint us as elitists, or classists, etc. and I just wanted to chime in at some point (I'm not sure why it was this thread that generated my response) and say....Let's go back to being gentlemen. No offense to anyone, I just miss what this used to be

It's not credit, the money is earned the same way. Not defending Rolex's at Walmart in any way. But slamming people who buy stuff via layaway is kinda lame. |

Rolex is just a watch , nothing more ,nothing less, it matters not where you get it , Costco , Walmart , AD, online, who cares ? just wear it and enjoy it ...

Just like Amazon, Walmart apparently lets other retailers sell from their site, or at least link from their site.
I noticed this some weeks back and, while I was not as dismayed as some here, I was taken somewhat aback. When I clicked on the watch in question, I was taken to the Overstock site, which has been selling used Rolex watches for quite some time now. I personally don't do as much shopping at Walmart since Sam Walton died and the selection of items became quite sparse compared to the old days, but I do still buy quite a few things from Walmart and I don't mind admitting it. I even have a Walmart Neighborhood Market that is less than a mile from my apartment and I do often late at night when other grocery stores are closed go there to pick up some food items. I'm not too thrilled with the tone of this thread either.

Hypocricy at its finest. I suppose those who buy at Walmart or on layaway are less than human but those who buy here on TRF from a "trusted seller" with a HUGE discount are "citizens of the world" ;really smart for saving so much money, which ironically, Is what most Walmart shoppers go there for.
Wow. Don't forget to pat yourselves on the back. |

It doesn't seem like good financial planning. Basically you're letting other people play with your money, without necessarily any benefit.

People online can't hide who they are for long. Eventually it comes out.

totally my point. i layed away 6 out of 7 of my Rolex's. I called that being smart and using the dealers money for a while instead of my own. |

Yup same here. I can understand peoples argument about credit and luxury items. I get that. But layaway is not credit. There is no intrest tacked on the amount of the item. You don't go into debt financing the item. You either have the money or you don't. |
