It fell!!!

Aaaargh! My Z series GMTII fell four feet onto the kitchen linoleum. It was my fault, I had placed it on some papers and it slid off. After I used up every expletive I know, I gave it the once over. It was all such a blur, I couldn't even tell you which way it landed, but it appears unscathed. The good news is that's how I found this site.

Arrrrg. Once, the one day that I was wearing my datejust, stupid me wants to regrip my sandwedge for the next day early round. One thing leads to another, and I get this solvent all over the crystal. Man!. I have seen this solvent to melt holes through plastic.... so I freak out and dunk it in water and use a toothbrush and toothpaste to try to rinse.

When I took it out, my eyes tell me that things are okay, but my 6th sense keeps reminding me.... "WHY?"

Anyway, I know how you must feel. I am sure no harm done. Good thing it was kitchen linolium instead of driveway concrete. (What a nightmare)

Our toddler is the main reason we don't have harder flooring in the kitchen, but it also was to my benefit in this case too. Thanks for the kind words. I didn't know what to expect from this site, I mean the watch cost close to a month's pay for me so I'm glad folks weren't saying, "just go buy another" or stuff like that.

The legend of Rolex continues. They make one hell of a tough watch. Glad your investment held up. No, I'm pretty new here myself but I don't think anyone here would tell you to just go buy another one. Most of us have spent our hard earned cash to buy these things.

Hamilton, I bet that story made your toes curl? I have never dropped my Rollie, but I did scrape it against a few door jambs a few times. Whenever something like that happens, my heart skips a beat. Right now it's at the RSC for scheduled maintenance and I'm looking forward to it coming home looking like new.

too bad it fell, but consider yourself lucky that no damage was done. I also dropped my watch countless times (old watch). and many times they all needed to go back to RSC for a touch up

I would suggest you get your watch insured. You've seen now how quickly an accident can occur. Insurance would cover that if it was hurt in any way.

Damn! I just calculated and it's just over two months for me.
I guess that's why it took so long to save for.
Not a lot of cavalier rich folks here. Most of us work for a living.

poor door jams! I have ruined many a jam with my Rolex. Not any scratches on the wath but lots of paint removed!

Be thankful it was not concrete you dropped your GMT on! Back in 1981 my father got an Air King and when he showed the family at the dinner table I dropped it [on the table] and man the gasps in the room! He turned red and yelled at me, "That's your mother's table! Be careful! You might dent it!!"

Several years back...I went down on a motorcycle at about 40 mph. According to the witnesses ( wan't my fault...) they thought something was wrong with me during the crash. They said it was weird...how I was sliding on my right side...holding my left hand straight up in the air.........

The Expy II came out of it without a scratch!
The bike, helmet and leathers.....well..I needed new ones anyway!

Sorry to hear about the incident. I would do exactly what Bo has said. Monitor the timekeeping of your watch over the next couple days and see if you notice any changes since you dropped the watch. If your GMT keeps time to COSC specs (-4 to +6 seconds/day) I would not worry about it.

You are the owner of an excellent watch, hope to see some pictures of your GMT sometime.

the other day i was driving in my car and i thought if i wa son a motorcycle (i dont own on) what would i do if i fell, i ended up thinking pretty much what you just described haha.
