SD4000 116600 and DeepSea D-Blue 116660

The Sea Dweller IMO is the most iconic Rolex sports watch.

Ever since I tried on the Deep Sea it has intrigued me, the 44mm built is perfect and I love how tall it rests on my wrist

The SD4000 is about the same price as the Deep Sea.
Isn't that odd or have I been misquoted?
Why would any one not buy the Deep Sea which is so much more of a watch?

The D-Blue is absolutely gorgeous, but it is 30% more expensive than the Deep Sea, which apart from the coloured dial is essentially the same watch. Are there any other differences that I have missed?
This huge price difference will take time to digest.

The D-Blue is so going to get me into trouble.

The Deep Sea is a master of Rolex Engineering made to showcase their prowess.

Unfortunately it is not a watch that most could wear on an everyday basis.

Sized correctly it wears well but is a wristfull especially if you are wearing a long sleeve shirt with a jacket.

On the other hand the SD4000 is IMO perfect.

As for the blue price discrepancy, go figure.

He's probably talking about used.

Umm... because most people can't wear a tank on their wrist. Don't get me wrong, it's a great watch but I think it's too large for most people's tastes.

D-Blue is £8250

DSSD is £8050

SD4000 is £6900

(UK prices)

DSSD and SD4000 are not the same price at all :/

If your comparing used then the price difference may be smaller, however the SD4000 was only released middle of last year whereas the DSSD has been out since 2008. Therefore your talking about a much older watch with many more in circulation on the used market.

US retail prices new:
Deepsea - $12,050
Deepsea DBlue - $12,350
Seadweller: $10,400

Secondary market will have a big difference between the DBlue and standard Deepsea because the DBlue was just released in August and has been shipped in very limited quantities and demand is high. The standard Deepsea has been out a while and good discounts are out there.
As far as Deepsea vs SD - it comes down to the size and wearability for the owner. I don't see one being superior over the other just because of a deeper depth rating.

Very limited Deepsea DBlue supply for now. Hopefully this will change

You are correct, the prices makes sense to me now.
It was late and I had not done enough research, simply browing eBay in the middle of the night. Fallen victim to the internet

The high demand for the D-Blue commands a premium (over MSRP) in the used market, prompted me to post.

The D-Blue is in my radar, I'll let the dust settles a bit.

Sounds like a plan. In the meantime, try on as many watches as you can.
