Unfortunately not I, though!

But my SS Daytona is going there!

I had an issue with it (see this thread) but got an AD watchmaker to correct it.

However, he left finger prints on the chrono hand and at the hands stack!

And the chrono hand is still off by ½ a second when reset!

So I phoned my AD (he did not do the repair, another AD did that), and he will have the Daytona sent to Rolex S.A. in Geneva to have it fixed. My AD will send it insured and cover all expenses for the repair job.

It will take 2 months before I get my Daytona back, but it will be worth the wait, imho.

I hope I can get Rolex to give it a customary buff, as well, to remove fine hairline scratches from the clasp and bracelet. Would Rolex charge me for that?

Since my AD has his store in another city, I will take the opportunity to visit my family, too. Therefore I will be offline for a couple of days.

I just took some pics of the issues. The pics are "before service pics" so to speak.

It was not easy to capture the fingerprints / dust on the chrono hand and hands stack, but the other pics should show the chrono hand resetting issue well enough.

The "dust" on the chrono hand is NOT on the crystal:

Also, the clasp scratches the overside of the polished centre links of the bracelet. Quite common, I know that, but maybe Rolex can polish those scratches out. They drive me nuts.




I will post some "after service pics" when I get the Daytona back.

Yes it´s easy to see and you can even match the print so you know who of the guys that have done it.

The first question I ask myself is:

How can there be a fingerprint?

You always handle the hands with a tweezer.

So Bo, it´s time to look for another watchmaker.

I know you're going to get your watch back, good as brand new when it comes back from Rolex. They will charge you for buffing it.

Like Jocke says, they should have been handling those hands with tweezers.

Finger oils on the gold is going to lead to corrosion down the road.. Any evaporation of the oils inside will settle right there too...it would just get worse...

I can see a tiny flick of chicken on the tip of the second hand, Bo. Maybe the watchmaker used it as a toothpick. Now the whole dial needs to be sanitized by Rolex SA. lol.

Nope, the AD is not Klarlund. I have bought some Rolex watches from that AD, though. Service is good - if you have bought the watch from them. Their watchmakers are renowned for their quality work.

I doubt that Rolex will polish anything on the watch without me paying for it. But I did ask for a "customary buffing". Let's see what happens. It's gonna be two tough months.

Thank you for your answer. The bit about their skills at Klarlund and their level of service (which I experienced first hand when I was visiting the Vesterbrogade shop to try out the GMT-IIC) was what I had heard previously, so I was beginning to wonder...
