Help Needed Verifying a Vintage Tudor
Hi TRF,
I was wondering if you could please help me authenticating this Vintage Tudor from the 1950s and provide any information? Do you think this is a ref 7965? Thanks a lot in advance. |

7965 would have an ETA movement and would be from 60s and not gold (IIRC)
That has - what looks to me - is the FEF movement which is the boy sized watch brother movement of the Tudor/FEF 390 used in full size subs and dress watched of many 50s to mid 60s Tudors Model number should be stamp[ed somewhere, on caseback, inside caseback or between lugs

And a quick follow up - some larger and clearer photos may be needed - it almost looks like the dial and movement are a tick small for that watch case. Though it just may be the photos.

Thanks a lot linesiders for the valuable information.
Here are a few more pics of the back case. I can't seem to find a positive search with ref 7956. It is being offered for sale locally and not sure if it is a good buy? |

Ahh - that is a 7955 as stamped on the caseback next to the serial @ 274xxx which is about 1958 manufacture.
I don't know enough about that specific model to guess other than what I stated above. If it runs well, has been serviced - go for it. If it needs work I would pass - parts are hard to come by. If all you want is a classic Tudor, I would recommend one from the mid-late 60s through the 70s with the ETA movement as it is much easier to fix.
