Interesting article. Surprised to see an estimated production of about 4,000 per year/105,000 total though. All the other sources I have seen give estimates of 25,000 total. He also says that all the movements were COSC ceritifed, so I wonder if the non-SCOC, single-line models were also rated, but just not marked (see my pic). Thanks for posting!

I was so underwhelmed when I finally ran across an OQ in a high end pre-owned watch shop. The case style and finish was reminiscent of Grand Seikos of that era and it just didn't seem "Swiss enough" for me. Also the champagne dial failed to mesmerize like a modern champagne dial DayDate or Datejust.

There's more Rolex DNA in the OQ design than you might think. People seem to think that Rolex copied Gerald Ganta's designs from the period, but if you look at much older watches like the Rolex Viceroy and Imperial, you can see where the OQ design was born.
