Hello from Lucca (with pics)

I'm in the lovely Renaissance old town of Lucca for a couple of weeks, attending Italian language school. After that, I'll knock around northern Italy for a few days. Then my wife is joining me and we're going to Malta and the Italian/French Riviera (it all gets a little complicated).

I brought only my SubC ND with me, but with the strong dollar/weak Euro, there could well be a purchase en route.

Ciao!

Nice pics. I was just in Lucca last December...a great, laid back town. There's a great little Rolex AD in Arezzo, which was similarly peaceful and atmospheric. I recommend a daytrip there if you have time.

Great pics! I may be going to Lucca myself next year. Italy is my favorite country to visit.

Good for you and great pics by the way. I'm Italian (with a name like Angelo that's pretty easy to figure out) but I've never been to Italy. Definitely on my bucket list.

Very nice pics, shameful that I lingered more over the AD pic than any other...

Yes, Lucca is a really pleasant place just to hang around in.

I did go into the local AD, Chiochinetti, eyeing a Tudor Heritage Blue Chronograph (which I know you're a big fan of). They offered a decent discount, 10-11%. That plus VAT refund plus weak Euro put it well below what any US trusted seller is offering. I was this close to pulling the trigger. I held off, though, mainly because I'm going to be in Milan in a couple of weeks (for the opening of the World Expo), and didn't want to preempt what I might do there.

We spent a week in a villa in the mountains just west of Lucca a few years ago. Loved Lucca. Great little town.

We love all of Italy. Great culture and great eating. I've always said that the only place you can get a bad meal in Italy is at MacDonalds.

Oddly enough, the pizza in McDonalds in Italy is amazing. To me anyway.

Seeing this post makes me miss Italy a whole lot! Especially the sweetness of doing nothing! I've been to Lucca many times when I lived in Switzerland. It's one of my favorite cities in Tuscany for shopping, dining and strolling. It's also easy to get to from our annual vacation spot in Forte dei Marmi.
