Need help with a 16750...

Hi Gents, about to pull the trigger on this GMT. I'm a Rolex Junkie, but possess nowhere near the level of knowledge as some RF members. Is there anything in these pictures that stands out as 'off'. I can trust the seller but would love extra assurance. Thanks Guys!

I wonder if anyone can really give you an honest opinion from looking at one washed-out picture like this. I surely hope you DO NOT buy a watch from a few of these scans provided by the seller. A trusted and respectable seller would provide many macros scans of the dial, case back, side, between the lugs etc... I've seen watches with cracked lugs, and rusted out cases.

Oh, another thing, the insert is an aftermarket

Old Leather Neck, Upon a simple google image comparison, you are indeed correct. It is different. To what extent does this affect the value? I see bezel inserts for this model sell for £200ish on eBay. Is this a fair discount to ask for?

I agree with what has been stated, it's extremely difficult to render an opinion on the Patina of the dial and hands with the poor quality of the pictures.

I will only add that the order of the hands are correct for a 16750. A blue back insert, which would be period correct for the watch, will run you around $200-300 USD on ebay or other forums. You might even be able to source it cheaper. Lastly, the case looks good to me as well.

These are fine timepieces, so you are definitely looking at the right watch!

Thanks guy, he does have a genuine bezel and has swapped it over. Can anyone tell me if it is correct now? P.S. desirable fading or 'worn out' fading?

Based on the serial number it should have a red back bezel insert. Either way, it is minutia.

A 9million serial number is way out of range for a matte dial 16750. The dial should have gold surround markers like the watch below. Additionally, the bezel insert would be a "blue back."

Sorry, dyslexic moment. It's a 718xxxx serial. Should be the last of the matte dials. Am i right?

718XXXX would be about the middle of the production range for the matte dials. The insert should be a "red back."
