Setting aside the two being very different watches, I would choose the ROC, especially since I have a Submariner (Rolex + similar to SD) and don't have an RO/ROC (or any AP).

Here we go! - okay more info : Have - Seadweller D series and 1675 Pepsi. Don't have an AP in the herd as of now. Had previously AP Panda (twice) and AP ROO Black and Red Ceramic pushers. All have made their way - but I still keep coming back...

Thoughts from both AP owners and Rolex owners appreciated. Didn't post this in vintage because I know what I'll get there.... Any thoughts on long term value? - I would lean towards the 1665 in that regard.

I have this black AP ROC along with hulk and blnr. Somehow have mixed feelings about it. It's highly versatile to wear, but somehow, it doesn't get much wrist time compared to the other two. there's just something unexplainable about Rolex to me. I used to hate the brand the most, but after my first 114060( which I let go regrettably), I just love their pieces even though they don't look a lot different. AP wants frequent my mind occasionally when I don't have one, but when I have one, I keep thinking of what Rolex alternatives I can make way for if I let go of it. That said, I'm waiting for a right buyer for mine to make way for my smurf.

Hence, my advice, stick to Rolex, whichever model that makes your heart skip a beat.

If you are interested in it more from an investment point of view and value retention then I think the 1665 Rail Dial is definitely the way to go.
If you already have a SD then I would go ROC if you really like it.
I love the ROC and would love to have one in my collection.
Do you intend to wear the 1665 or put it in a safe?
I buy watches to wear so if I was going to wear the ROC over the 1665 I would get the ROC

The 1665 is on my arm as we speak, I only buy to wear. The ROC was one I flipped and now kind of miss.

Since you have the other SD and 1675 I can see how the AP would fit in nicely.

Big fan of APRO 39mm models (Jumbo and 15300s). Lovely watches with outstanding quality.

AP ROC @ 41mm is too big for me so I would choose the Rolex based on that alone.

However, if the size of the ROC is ok for you, you are getting a more advanced watch finished to a higher standard.

EDIT: Keep in mind that this is a Rolex forum. Maybe ask this on the AP section.

I'd go with the Rolex in this case and I love AP. It just seems like you tend to prefer Rolex (have flipped all of the APs you've owned) and I don't think you'd have any trouble getting another ROC later if you wanted.
