Dream Watch

Whats your ultimate watch. If you could only have one watch, any watch in the world, which one would it be?

Too many to chose from. I'm VERY happy with my ExpII, particularly since I can change the look by swapping straps.

I am very happy with the watches I have.
I would like to add one more. Thinking Pan line up, but not sure if I would consider it a dream watch.
Problem with dreams, you eventually wake up.

Very happy with my SS Sub Date. It's been my choice since I've known what A Rolex was. If I never get another one, I'll be very happy. But if I ever get the oppornutity to buy another, it'll be a Rolesium YM

Are we talking about existing watches? If we are, I'm pretty chuffed with my SD. If we're not, I'd be thinking of a SS black GMT-II with a Triplock.

CJ, your question could have two interpretations:

1. The Rolex you can afford and would like to have as the only one in your colleciton. My answer is this one...

2. The Rolex which you only dream off, cannot afford, but would like to have in your possession. Then my answer would be this one...

JJ, you're killing me with that bottom photo Besides, that could be way to heavy for your wrist at your age . If you happen to get one send it to me, I would hate to have you strain yourself with that awfully heavy thing. I'll wear it for you and send you the Yacht Mariner in return..............................no, no, no......I'll hear non of it. That s what friends are for

Daren, a 196? Really?

I'd be more into a 194 or even better, a a PAM47 (only 20 of them made).

Even if I had the $$ to have 20 or more watches, I know I'd prolly just rotate two or three... so acumulating them isn't attrattive to me.

Or in other words... it isn't something I can afford to do.

Just got back from a trip downtown Vancouver.
The only Panerai dealer in the Western Canada ( so they say)
Is this Karma or what. There are two Pan's I was interested in ( Pam113 & 114)
Well , out of the small stock they had in, both watches were there.
It fits my wrist perfectly. Centred, strap buckle centred on bottom too.
My wife is gonna kill me.
BUT, I will die smiling.

John, either is a great pick, good luck I like the 113 for the small seconds sub dial at the nine o'clock position.

I've thought about this question for several days now, CJ, ever since you started the thread. I keep coming back to one watch that is my ultimate watch.

And isn't it fortunate that I already have my ultimate watch.
Now I can go on looking for the penultimate watch, knowing that I already have my ultimate.

It's a good feeling isn't Ed. Thats how I feel about my GMT, and the other four I want to get worst part is yesterday it was only three more that I wanted. Now JJ's got me wanting a 16610

Nah, only the 196/162 interests me as far as the ones I can't afford right now. Not into the vintage or SE's. I do have an itch for a BASE again though, so that could be the next target.

SS Sub Date. It was my one and only for so many years. If I had to go back to only one, that would be it.

The more interesting question is, what Rolex have you owned that you would never buy again? Maybe I should start a new thread.

Sub-date 16610 is an excellent choice, David.

As to your second question: The SS DJ which I owned last year and sold within a month is the one I would NEVER go back to. Loved EVERYTHING about the watch except its 36 mm size!!

That is an interesting question, Dave. I can't think of any Rolex I've owned that I would never buy again. Of course, I have never sold any of my Rolexes so that sort of begs the question. I like them all for different reasons and for different ocassions.

The 36 mm size of the DDs and DJs doesn't bother me. I can go from the 43 mm Breitling to a 36 mm DD and in 5 minutes I've aclimated myself to the size difference. You just have to learn to be flexible (hear that, JJ ).

But there is one watch that if I had to do over I would not buy again. That's my black dial GP ww.tc. It's too fat and I'm not crazy about the black face. The chrono subdials are impossible to read on it. It gets the least wrist time of all my watches.
