help needed - sd4k date not working
Hey guys,
I'm gutted that i'm having an issue with my sd4k. A few weeks ago i was setting the time on my watch and noticed the crown didnt really pop into the first position after unscrewing it and it felt very odd when i was pulling it out to the minute adjustment. Its been playing on my mind so i unscrewed the crown again and the same thing happened. I checked the date function and it worked. Pushed the crown in and then tried again now the date wheel wont move. It make a similar noise to when your winding the watch in the first position. The watch is still running and keeping time. I have now hacked the watch as dont want to cause any damage and intend to send to rolex as its only a year old. Im worried as i bought the watch used from watchfinder and it originates from U.A.E and has no ones name on the warranty card. Only the AD's stamp and date. Will rolex accept a warranty claim from me as im not the original owner, and especially as there is no name on the card - should i add my name or is it electronically stored on the card. Any advice appreciated - panicking somewhat. Thanks |

Not sure of Rolex's policy here, but perhaps you should have an independent watchmaker have a look? Also, are you also sure the watch was never stolen, because if it was reported as such to Rolex, then Rolex will keep it if you return it to them.

I have bought and sold many of my own watches through watchfinder in the past and find them a highly professional organisation to deal with. They claim to make checks to ensure the authenticity and clean background of all watches they sell. I hope they are true to their word. I think maybe ill ask watchfinders service team to inspect the watch.

Ok I'll try to help. Few months after I bought my Sub-C (same cal 3135) it was still a bit hard to adjust the date. I had to 'play' with the crown a little but after some time it became easier and now it's perfect. I think you could try again but gently. As for the warranty it follows the watch, not the owner, so if the card is stamped the RSC can have access to purchase details and I believe if everything else fails you could visit them and try to get your watch fixed under warranty. This is my modest view. Good luck.

Just put your name on the warranty card, send it in, and you will be fine. Nothing is stored electronically and you will not be flagged as buying this on the gray market.
