If you can spend this kind of money on a gadget, you probably wont feel a thing!

The aWatch won't be for everyone, but mine was less than an overhaul on any of my Rolexes.

Apple have been mugging their customers off in this way for years now and the sheep just keep sucking it up!

Have to say fair play to them really, if people are this easily conned into constantly upgrading their devices then more fool them.

Have zero desire for one...but do find this interesting: "Apple may release new Apple Watch models based on metals such as titanium, tungsten, palladium or platinum"

And who says a Rolex isn't an investment? A Rolex is for life, a smart watch is three to four years tops.

Sold mine.
Kool-Ade wore off.
Couldn't phantom shelving my Rolex and Breitling for it.

Yeah, but how many smart watches can you buy for the price of your Rolex...

Apple Watch 2

As a product category, Apple chose the word "Watch" since it most closely described what potential buyers would call a wrist wearable device.

It is as much a watch as the iPhone is a phone - sure you can make or take a call with an iPhone, but it is an info management device for most. E-mail, texts, navigation, social media, etc. It's a category killer for some GPS makers, killed the PDA, killed personal pagers (a few business pagers still exist) and crippled Blackberry.

Now the aWatch will find its higher purpose but the users and App makers will impact what that becomes. IMHO, it won't be a timepiece

I like the apple watch but this is exactly why I would not buy one in PM. The technology is evolving so fast that they're going to be releasing a new one every ~2 years. Buy anything but one of the inexpensive models and you'll be out a lot of dough when a newer model comes out.

Just like iPhones, and watches to a degree as well, an upgrade to the new model is only the cost to change.
There's a ready market for other people's cast offs, and it's not like the previous model ceases to work because the new one has come along – photography is exactly the same.

So this is hardly newsworthy, never mind getting one's knickers in a twist over.

I sort of wanted an apple watch, but I've always suspected the 2nd one wouldn't be too far off. I don't think I've ever bothered buying the 1st generation of any apple product. I wonder how much a platinum apple watch would cost, haha.
