What's Your Favorite Non-Rolex Watch?
Here's the first automatic watch I bought: the Tag Heuer Calibre 36, with TAG Heuer’s modified version of the famous Zenith El Primero.
Tag Heuer was my favorite watch until a few years ago, and I'd always stuck with quartz for accuracy and fewer maintenance requirements, but when this watch hit the market, and I held it and felt its movement working, I made the shift from pure accuracy to pure class. I've had this watch for 7 years and it's still accurate to within +1.5-2 seconds per day. This watch has been all over the world, through all kinds of adventures, and it's never skipped a beat. The only negative thing I could say about it, if I had to say something, is it just hasn't held its value like a Rolex — $7000 new, and now easily had for $4000; however, that only matters if you want to sell. It's incredibly comfortable on the wrist and so easy to read — with an AR coating that produces a lovely, deep rich black hole effect. Rolex has taken the number one position in my 'collection', but this is still, and will always be, a beautifully made piece. |

Nice watch, I've always liked TAG's also. Rolex is my main brand, but this is my latest and my current favorite:

There are several watches I would rank ahead of any Rolex.
My two favorites are probably the 15400, and the Lange 1 Moonphase.

Nothing wrong with TAG.
I have one that has literally been around the world several times over, been surfing, snorkeling, rock climbing, up a few volcanoes, out the door of an airplane or two, definitely out the door of a bunch of helicopters, and been dipped in champagne and blood and sweat more times that I would like to think. Done two Ironman tris, several Xterra tris too. Oh, and it was my duty watch through 10 years of emergency services (EMT Paramedic/LEO). Oh, and its unidiretional bezel steadfastly timed how many times I got shot down in bars by the fairer sex too :-) |

My late fathers RAF issued Seiko GEN 1 Chronograph. Remember admiring it on his wrist whilst I was wearing my digital watches of the day. He flew as the Air Electronics Officer on many aircraft including the Shackleton, Nimrod, Victor and the very famous Vulcan. Here it is with my other favourites.

I think this one, my pictures don't do it justice...
Breguet style hands, guilloché 'sunray' silver dial, sapphire set crown, exhibition back, deployant clasp, red alligator strap. I prefer this particular shape of tortue, has some thickness to it. I've owned this for some time now and have no idea of its worth. I haven't seen this for sale/sold anywhere, yet. |

Right now this one. I've had it for a few months and very much still in the honeymoon phase.
