Help Me Guys....I'm Feeling Guilty (Sea Bathing with my RG Daytona on)

Guys,

Yesterday, we took a vacation to the local beach and decided to go swimming there. I decided to keep my RG Daytona on as I thought this is an Oyster Perpetual watch even though it is made of solid Rose Gold....

Then my wife said to me: "Are you crazy, using your $35,000 watch for sea bathing? This is not a swimming pool..."

Then afterward, I keep remembering my wife words....using a 35k watch for sea bathing??? Is it wise ???

I inspected my watch after arriving at home....it seems ok...nothing's wrong with it....but I'm feeling really guilty now, using my RG Daytona on while sea bathing....if it's an SS Rolex, maybe I will not feeling too guilty....but it's an RG Daytona...

Do you guys have any similar experience here? using Rolex gold watch while sea bathing???

Regards,

I never feel guilty but I rinse in tap water if it has been in salt water. Our pool is salt water at the condo and I rinse in the shower to remove the salt particles.

Rolex says you can go swimming with up to a $22,500 watch, no more.

Regards,
Many years ago I had similar problems, worrying more about my watch than living the moment. Rolex watches are workhorses, and as someone said, they will stand anything your arm can take (and more!).

Do mot worry about it, a good rinse or even quick soap and water in the bathroom after the ocean and you will be great. Enjoy your vacation!

Geez, I was swimming and digging in the sand with my son with mine. It's worn, that's what it's for. I wouldn't stress. That and my wife thinks it was $20k worth.

A gold Daytona will probably suffer less corrosion from salt water than a stainless steel Daytona.

I went swimming in the gulf with my SS Daytona not too long ago. Just make sure the pushers and crown are screwed down and you're good to go.

I don't think you could do anything while swimming to have the clasp come open in the water. I might think twice about something like surfing, but that's about it.

That's rapidly heading towards Au$30000.

As long as you have it insured in a way that would cover it's loss in the ocean I wouldn't worry about it at all. A vacation I took to an island a few months back prompted me to properly insure my BLNR.

I probably wouldn't participate in any high octane water sports but a peaceful swim in the sea should cause no guilt....as long as everything was screwed down of course.

If you wear your watch to the beach, you might as well swim with it assuming the crown and pushers are secured. After all, the risk of water damage is far less then the risk of someone stealing such a desirable and expensive timepiece.

I was hanging from tree tops on a wire adventure with steel cables, aluminum carabiners, harnesses all around me, while wearing my 116619. Got a few more scratches but all's fine. Live a little.

What about the dead sea with its high salt content....... Surely there is a list of seas forbodden for Rolex, can somebody post these.

I advice taking a small Salinity meter with you to test prior to swimming..... I am sure it will be very unobtrusive.

Rolex can take it, that's it's beauty within, just as you enjoy it's beauty without.

I am sure there is a thread somewhere of a forum member scuba diving in a Daytona. All oyster models will keep going long after the depth has killed you.

I'd leave on your beach blanket while swimming in the ocean.
