Bréguet

What do we think about Bréguet?

I really like the brand, probably very understated, well at least IMO, I think their designs and models are very interesting and if bought well are good options, I am looking into a few brands for my third piece, won't be before quite a while but it never hurts to be on the look out, and I since I don't want to buy and flip within 3 months anymore I try to choose my watches more wisely, seems the 2 I have are here to stay, that's one good thing

Here is a video for one model that I find very interesting and very cool to look at when it's working, hope you enjoy the video

Here's an article on this Bréguet chronograph which is very cool to look at when in movement

Also here's a video on a minute repeater tourbillon, these pieces are too "dressy" for my taste but I find them very interesting nonetheless…

Most of their designs don't really do it for me so I haven't paid much attention to them but I have considered some of their simpler classique watches along with the simple marine. I find the guillochè on their dials to be simply exquisite. I would also argue that their finishing is on par with trinity brands such as AP and VC. However for me when I was looking at some of their models such as the marine in RG I just couldn't really see myself wearing the watch often as they appear to be very dressy in appearance. Also some of their movements aren't in house, they use F. Piguet (which I believe was renamed to Blancpain) bases. I'm not really bothered by the movement being in house or not.

Well I can't say I saw many of them in real, I am looking at their marine models but if they look too dressy in real then it won't be for me, on pics they seem not to be but it's just at the limit, as I can enjoy and appreciate the beauty of dress watches but to wear I won't get something which is not sporty enough, for me Patek Nautilus is the limit in terms of "sporty" looking pieces, anything which looks more dressy than that is not for me, maybe in a few years but not now, this one here seems quite nice on pics, need to see it in real like always

I went to NYC last week and saw the basic marine in rose gold and steel. Although coming on a rubber strap I would say that the rose gold version is quite dressy while the steel is more casual. However I would still say that the steel is dressier than the Nautilus so it wasn't for me.

Edit: Haven't seen the GMT version irl but from pictures I prefer the aesthetics of the simpler version due to the symmetry of the dial and the guillochè not being "interrupted" by the subdials.

"Some" of their models are quite attractive. Problem is if you want to sell it later on for whatever reason good luck recouping a fraction of what you paid.

Very true. For whatever reason, they don't fare well in the second hand market.

Well I am a Patek 5712 mega fan, so asymmetrical dials are not a problem for me on the contrary

You need to buy them very well, but that's the case for most brands, 99% of brands and models, doesn't mean if you buy a Rolex it's gonna keep most of it's value compared with the retail price, PM ones especially, get killed on resale...

Great history for the brand, but does sting used value.

Agree their guilloche dials are beautifully crafted and as a dress watch they right up there. Also I'm a big fan of Napoleon... altho I prefer my boots.

Yeah I'm normally a fan of the asymmetry in watches such as the nautilus and the lange 1 however for me I prefer Breguet's on the simpler side.

Very nice watches...just not my style. But, some of those dials are just...yummy.

I have Breguet Marine Royale. The fit and finish is second to none although I say Rolex is my favorite brand. Marine Series is my favorite model, it's a,bridge 🌉 between classic and contemporary design language
