the worlds messed up, tons of African Americans use that term everyday. If he's getting tossed for that radio clip it's time to relocate abroad and leave this country behind.

One souldn't choose to laugh sometimes and other times choose to be offended. It is and can be one of the most ugly words, but context is (BY FAR) most important with this word that has permeated nearly every level of most societies on the planet in every art form and social situation. It's a word. It isn't going away. We can't simply make up a new rule and pretend it never existed. Also true: The more eloquent don't use it as they almost never use curse words. How come its only bad when certain racial groups say it? Isn't that prejudice of a sort ? It is an emotionally charged word that can cause a visceral reaction and can be taken any one of 10 ways. It is best to stay away from it as it could very easily be used to someones advantage, be used in a slander case, cost corporations time and money, hurt feelings etc... It really is a shame that logic, maturity and intelligence are not always applied as more than half of these issues would simply go away. We certainly can't expect adult members of an increasingly litigious society to act responsible, mature and logical, now can we? No, we have to cater to an opportunistic, overemotional / knee jerk reactionary sector of the citizenry. Final note: Not that it should matter, but I come from a multicultural background. I say this for those who seem to continuously look for something to argue about in the name of shoring up their side of an argument for personal benefit but do it in the name of justice and righteousness. My apologies for the truth rant and observations based in logic. Peace.... |

When you are making money as the face of a major brand, you don't have the same freedom as joe blow. The wwe brand obviously doesn't want to be aligned with bigotry. It's quite simple.

Personally I think this is fine and the right of any money making organization, however, it comes off as a bit hypocritical to do it only to maintain a certain stream of revenue while PRETENDING to be truly caring. Just another brand of falsehood wrapped up and presented to paint a particular face on an issue for reasons of gain. Nothing wrong with this, but lets try to see it for what it is. What they are doing is smart from a bottomline perspective (perhaps their only viable corse of action in todays society) and that is the only reason a capitalist venture exists. I'm totally down with that. Money is good. On the other hand, any customer who blindly accepts this brand of pandering should be aware as to why it is happening. All good. Cheers, Elcompa |

Apparently no one involved understands the concept of context or even bothered to listen to the content of the interview.
But, who cares? "Professional wrestling" is the lowest form of entertainment ever devised with the possible exception of feeding Christians to the lions.

Yes, it may be considered a negative word in the dictionary and the mainstream global view, but in the streets as a slang term it sounds nothing like or means the same thing as when an adult white male says it referencing a protest to his daughters dating habits. Quote:
Hulk Hogan should know better, no excuse. I have a slightly different view of him now....by his own words "he's racist to a point".....a big point it seems. |

Can you elaborate on the context, as he seems to use it only referring to non whites....the interview about hanging out with rappers is debatably understandable but there is only one context I see when it's use is negative or only in describing his non caucasian peers or daughters dating habits. |

Yes, exactly. The interview isn't the real cause of the brouhaha...it's the other stuff. The context seems clear in those cases.
I too have said enough on this subject. Weekend's here, time for some r&r. |

You have a right to free speech, not consequence free speech. Your boss also has that right.
