My second Luxury watch

Dear fellow timepiece enthusiasts.

The time has almost come to treat myself to my second luxury watch. I will be purchasing for my birthday early next year (March 2016).

As many of you know my grail piece is a Rolex Day date II ref 218235. This is a lovely piece but I have come to realise that I cannot wear this everyday.

For my second piece I am looking for a more useable piece. I am considering either Rolex, Patek or tudor. I fell in love with Tudor and Patek watches since trying them on recently.

Please could you comment on what you think of the pieces I have tried on so far, and add any images of pieces that you have tried on and have considered adding to your collection. I would also be very interested in any comments on the pieces I have tried on in the wrist shots..

My top ten list would be as follows;-

1) Patek Philippe Aquanaut stainless steel (but I cannot find one in the UK that's pre owned and not very old... this is the watch I lust for the most)
2) Rolex Daytona stainless steel white dial (I will be definitely owning one of these at some point, but im not sure if I should get it just now?)
3) Patek Philippe Calatrava (yellow gold manual wind... its just perfect.. but too expensive)
4) Audemars Piguet royal oak chrono (but I am scared of this watch... its just a bit too freaky and scary just now)
5) Rolex deep sea dweller (just wow. will be getting one of these at some point)




By the way I did not really like the omega. I just tried it on because it was there..

but I had to add a shot of my Day Date II which I've fallen back in love with..

In my opinion the Day Date II is so much more beautiful than the Day Date 40. no question.. especially the white gold Day Date II's. I saw one of them recently in the flesh and boy oh boy was it stunning...

if you want an every day wearer id suggest a big block tudor chrono or a pelagos blue.

aside from that the patek nautilus would be an excellent choice.

I was going to mention the DD40 but that DDII looks so great on your wrist. I'd be hard pressed not to wear that every day. If you haven't tried on the RG YMII then give it a shot.

You did ask about what you have already tried on. My vote is for the Daytona.

What an amazing AP. It’s beautiful. Wow..

I Have a perception that AP’s are really expensive to own, and I’m a bit scared of how much they cost.. I can’t afford to maintain an AP at this stage in my life. Was looking to spend around £7500 maximum at the mo. Might have to get an extra £2000 as a loan if I go for an aquanaught.

My only luxury watch to date is my DDII 218235.

Well, to be honest, there's really nothing on your list I would want to take that DD2 off for...so my advice is to do two things:

1. Keep shopping for a watch that you absolutely fall in love with and can't live without.
2. Buy something (relatively, of course) cheap that you can knock around with until number 1 happens. But man, I would be hard pressed not to wear that DD2 every second of every day.

Thanks mate. I wouldn't get a loan tho, these are luxury products so I would just save up. A used SS ROC can be bought for a similar price to the Aquanaut, so you still have choices.

Daytona but the one in the pic personally that is the only bezel color I like. If it's not that then BLNR

Go with the Daytona, it will not break the back and fits into what you are trying to do.

wow. I didn't realise Id have to drop that much dough to obtain my dream stainless steel watch.. i think im just going to buy a Daytona.
I will need to save some more money and grow some bigger balls before I can move on to patek philippe territory.
