New to Rolex
Hi everyone very new to Rolex was told this is the best place:) I received a Datejust watch from my late dad. I am assuming its late 80's but if someone can confirm please. Also what are my options to change the bracelet not keen on the gold should I go SS? One last question what would the value be of the watch if possible thanks again for the help .

Hi
I am new too, just last week.... Anything I got from my Dad stayed in tact, no changes. He is too wonderful to change anything about him, including his memory. So.... to folks who are sentimental, like me, I wouldn't change a thing and just wear it with the pride that he gave it to you as inheritance that you can cherish and pass on... Just my humble opinion... :-) |

Agree... Get an entire new watch... when you get older like me, you will cherish the watch and be glad you saved it as is

KEEP THE WATCH FOREVER. 1
The watch looks really, really good! Now that that is said, i can see why you would like to change the strap, however you should keep the original bracelet forever too, and probably get a leather strap or two tone jubilee for it. But since i think the endlinks would be a problem keep this band or go leather.

It's actually a rather old Datejust, not from the 80s but instead from the 60s. It appears to be solid gold. Really beautiful piece!
I would put a nice brown leather strap on and be done with it. |

Leather strap would look nice. Keep the one your dad wore it with sentimental reasons.

Dark brown croc or gator looks great with gold. You can find genuine vintage Rolex straps around. Beautiful watch.

Thanks everyone for the help and kind words. After reading up on the datejust model seems it might be 6105 model?

I too wear my father's watch from the 60s - I absolutely adore it.
As others have said, I would preserve the original bracelet in a safe place and put a very high quality brown leather strap on it. It is a gorgeous piece and you should pass it down to your heirs. |

I would splurge on a gold jubilee bracelet. Not sure what bracelet was original to that watch.

I would put the watch on a strap and wear it regularly
I would not wear the bracelet ever ...I wouldn't feel the least bit like I did my dad an injustice.

Looks to 1960's. Not sure what he put on it as a bracelet though. But put a SS bracelet on a solid gold watch head? Sounds like two bad ideas, like father like son, no? Get a nice crocodile/gator or leather strap for it. value? Your dad's watch, so, unless you were estranged or something shouldn't that be priceless? |
