Sticking Movement on 3035 Datejust

The movement on my 1987 Datejust TOG has been sticking occasionally. Sometimes it'll start running soon as I take it out of the safe, while at other times I have to give it a couple of taps on the crystal to get it running. It was serviced by RSC in Pennsylvania 15 months ago. Is this something inherent with 3035 movements, or should I sent it in to be looked at while it's still well within warranty? Doesn't seem right to me.

Is it fully wound, ie: 40 full turns of the crown?

I do that every Sunday and before I put it on out of the safe. I wound it a good 30 or so turns yesterday afternoon and it didn't start running until I tapped the crystal. I've been wearing it almost exclusively since it was serviced and put it in my winder maybe 2-3 days a week until I decided to skip that and just let it wind down. I don't know if this has been an issue from the get go or not. What baffles me is the fact that it'll sometines start running soon as I handle it after a few seconds, other times nothing until tapped.

Yeah, seems to me that something is amiss. There should be other members along who have way more watch-tech knowledge than I do but from the sound of it a service may be required.
Just a suggestion but since your in Seattle you might consider sending it to Vanessa who is down in Newport Beach, CA. I've heard nothing but stellar praise about her work.
Hope you get it resolved quickly but it doesn't sound like a major overhaul or anything like that. Just some tweaking!

The pallet fork needs an impusle in order for it to get the balance moving, sometimes this takes a gentle shake or tap and sometimes it starts running as soon as you pick it up, nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the watch lesson Bas, you're on the ball my friend! So if a watch is exhibiting this behavior you can't change it without changing parts?

All perfectly normal in most all movements even after a wind some might need a gentle swirl/tap to get them started.Its mainly because its mechanical and not like a instant electronic on/off switch.

Sometimes a full service and proper oil/grease can "fix" this non-issue simply because everything is more slippery.

But it's pretty normal for any mechanical watch from time-to-time.

Thanks very much for the replies, makes sense and sets my mind at ease. I've never experienced this with any of my railroads or marine chronometer, perhaps it's due to size differentials?
