Incoming 116520 w/ 116519 Dial Completed & 1st Impressions
Picked this piece & dial up last week from DavidSW.......as I have stated many times already, if you are not buying from them you should be, great service, knowledge and pricing. All businesses should be so fortunate to offer even half their level of customer service!
The Hands were procured here from ViperB, great guy, super smooth transaction! I was close to getting the 116519 but I just don't wear my pieces with Leather Straps but once in a Blue Moon and I really wanted to have a Daytona that I would wear weekly. So I decided to merge the two into one daily wear piece. I saw 2 or 3 folks on the web that have done this and decided to give it a shot. My local Rolex Trained Jeweler completed the swap of dial and hands in a day. I consider myself fortunate to have such a Highly Skilled/Trained Watchmaker just down the street from me, he will go nameless but he is on the forums so thank you again!! On to the piece. I am very happy with how it turned out, and the look compliments my other DW pieces by being dressier than them so the rotation has been filled in. It wears very light on the wrist, akin to the Aquanaut or Jumbo. I haven't figured it out yet but the bracelet hugs the wrist better to me than the Subs, GMT's or EXPii I currently have or have owned. It is a V Serial so the clasp operates just like my other Rolex pieces. This is the first Daytona I have owned, at first I wasn't a fan of the screw down pushers but I think they will grow on me just fine especially when wanting to record a time and then lock it in so I don't reset the chrono accidentally (an unintended design perk to me). The case wears alot smaller than the Sub, GMT, or EXPii to me, I am really surprised at how much smaller it wears, now I have been wearing my 116619 for the past few weeks so I am feeling a significant amount of that weight change for sure but it sits lower and the smaller case really feels alot like my Speedmaster (favorite Chrono I have owned which might or might not change) which is a good thing to me. I honestly couldn't tell the difference in a blind test of the two aside from the bracelet. All said I am very happy with how this turned out, I have a rather rare (some would say frankenrolex, I say custom) piece that compliments my daily wear pieces well as I said and it should work well for those dressier times also. I lean towards more casual clothes, Jeans and a T-shirt would be my every single day attire if I could get away with it. This piece goes well with that also!!! Thanks for looking! |

Awesome, looks great. Probably the easiest Daytona Dial to notice time from a glance. Very good choice for situations you will be using it for.
Though it does come in White Gold solid Bracelet with that dial in 116509. Price points aside. Some more pics would be appreciated. |

Beautiful outcome. Love the mesh of colors. Looks classy but sporty at the same time.

Dial looks fantastic, that's a modded watch not frankened, ie all genuine parts used.

1000% better than the boring ss dial and it's still all original Rolex so ignore anyone saying Franken it's just a better original Rolex dial no harm done but plenty of bang achieved

I think you guys are confused on the term "frankenwatch." That doesn't mean that parts are not authentic, it just means they're mixed and matched from different watches - just like Frankenstein's Monster was made of real human parts matched together. "Franken" doesn't have to mean parts are fake.

The dial is badass, but the combo looks a little bit weird with the SS bezel.
