Vintage Rolex Oyster Royal H.G. Bell

Good day everybody.

I recently stumbled on this beautiful and rare Rolex Oyster Royal H.G. Bell Salisbury, Precision (quite a mouthfull!).
The watch needs to be repaired but the original part to be replaced isn't available in South africa. Any suggestion?!

Adriaan

HG Bell was a Rolex authorised dealer in Salisbury (Rhodesia) from the 1930s. Your watch looks to be from about that time.

Can it still be repaired?

Depending on the damage, but yes most probably if you find the right watchmaker who has, or can make, the parts.

Is it possible to attach a value to the watch as is?
It's mechanically complete.

We don't really do valuations here, but as this is an antique...I would guess you might fetch a few hundred bucks on ebay as a fixer upper. The market for these isn't huge like it is for 50s and later Rolex. Then again it might be just what someone is looking for, and would be willing to pay higher.

The lower lugs look very short to me, by the way.

Very interesting find. If you decide to restore it, I hope you post some pictures here.
