RSC and vintage watch

Gotta a Gold vintage 1967 Rolex, currently working order. I'm wondering if it's worth it to send it to RSC. Everyone says they come back looking like new; however, are they going to do anything to a 1967 that it worth it?

Am I better off just having a local guy polish it up?

I would definately have RSC refurbish and service it. However, being that old the 3 official US RSC's MIGHT turn down servicing it.

Luckily, you should be able to have the watch serviced by the independent RSC in San Francisco. Being independent of the strict policies of RUSA (Rolex USA), the RSC SF has much more free hands.

You will be amazed by just how good your Rolex looks when you get it back.

Please post some pics of it as "before service" pics, both for us to enjoy but also for your own records since - as stated - it will look like new after service.

Give them a call. It depends on the model if they will service a watch more than 30 or so years old.. but unless it's rare or exotic, they should.

You live in Maine so the two closest RSC's would be the New York main Service Center, or an independent RSC in Chicago.

Chris it really depends. Some things to consider--- RUSA is still servicing 15xx movements however they also are forcing dial and hands changes more and more. Such a change would really have an impact on the value of your watch (I'm assuming the dials and hands are not completely shot).

I have read reports the Beverly hills RSC has allowed some movement in this area, but at the cost of warranty (not that a big a deal to me on such a piece.)

What kind of shape is the bracelet in? RSC would want to change it if they feel it's not to their standards. Again assuming original I would not want to do this. You have the option of sending it head only in which case they would fit the correct service replacement, but at the cost$$$$$$$ might not be feasible.

I have experience with Chicago and found them to be outstanding. I've heard the same about San Francisco as well. All genuine parts and paperwork to back it up. In my experience they have been much more forgiving.

Good luck.
