Buying second hand 14060
Just looking at some 14060 in UK, dealers and Chrono24, and they generally priced at £4500GB and up or slightly less. Everywhere else in the world on Chrono24, they are almost half that price, and are about £2500 generally. Is this the norm for the UK. Greedy dealers or are they varying that much?
I don't see why I should have to pay just a couple of hundred pounds less for the 14060 than a brand new 114060, and they're the same price for a slightly worn 114060. Just wondered if I'm looking at this in the wrong way? I see some great prices on the forums here, but invariably mostly all US based, and the taxes and stuff make it a pointless exercise. |

For some reason the watches are more expensive in the UK, I don't know if greed is the issue. Most probably based on offer/demand. With the weaker Euro to the Pound, I would look at the mainland for a nice 14060. The 14060 is out of production, so some believe it requires a higher premium. I don't think any 14060 is worth more than 4000 Euro. Even the last produced random serials are not. There is a difference in size between the 14060 and the 114060, as well as the ceramic vs aluminium bezel and a different bracelet. Some will argue them as improvements, some won't care. It's up to you to try the model you like the best and then find the best priced one. Good luck with the hunt!

If you've done research and think it's overpriced you are probably correct. It certainly sounds expensive.

If you get it on chrono 24 from another eu country , I don't think you have to pay any import duty and can save a good chunk of cash .

I recently bought a pristine 14060m in the uk for just over 3.5k. Took a bit of haggling but it's a beauty. Just keep looking. The main internet dealers are more expensive and less inclined to deal.

Wow. Sounds like for the price difference you could hop on a plane and go somewhere for a nice weekend vacation and shop for a watch. Ship the empty box home and wear it back to avoid any duties.
Come to America! We speak English.

As long as you buy within EU you should not need to pay any taxes on the UK arrival I think.
Unless something changes since l left old continent few years ago. |

It's not half price in America. I got one for 4,600 USD and it was in mint condition. Dealers will sell it for 10-20% more. Private sale. Great watch.

I have both.
If I feel for a hinto of bling; 114060. If I feel for just plain, lightweight, strap compatible watch; 14060. |

I do like the 114060 no question about it, but It is very shiny on the wrist, bracelet and bezel, I like it, but so do half of criminal London when they see it coming towards them. |

2 good examples of this watch I looked at, a 2009 14060M at £4500 GB, or a 2014 114060 for the same price. Which one is correctly priced? Either of them?

Look around in the rest of Europe, much better prices and no VAT or import duties.

If you buy in EEC (either flying there or have them ship it) you pay local VAT (on new) or VAT has already been paid by the first owner (so you pay VAT on the margin of the dealer or none if you buy from private). No tarrifs, duties or VAT when you bring to the UK.
There are for example about 20 in Rome for under £3000 ... take a flight there, visit dealers, spend a night in Rome, have some great food, buy a watch all below £3500. (also of course many in NL, France or Germany, but with this weather I rather take a weekend in Rome vs. Germany or NL and with the latest news maybe also not Paris) |

I bought my 14060 last year from a dealer in the uk for £3250 box and papers, year 2000. Did'nt realised they had gone up that much in a year.Mine has a calibre 3000 on a P starting serial number.

There are currently several 14060`s on Chrono 24 selling for £2700-2800 from far east dealers. They send overseas in discrete ways but securely packed and fully insured.

Dealers for the main part in the UK, but usually London will really try it on. Hence, they get stuck with stock for a long time, but eventually someone comes along and has no clue of worth and thinks that must be what they cost and they get sold. There are buyers who won't question it's the same price as current model. I saw a 2 line 14060 in Watford ages ago and it's well over price at just under 5K, and the manager refused to even get into conversation about discounting. Months later, still in the window. They have a small selection of used Rolex. Of course I've no idea what they bought it in at, but maybe too much. As a first Sub purchase and not massively clued up, but wary of unknown dealers in Chrono. A new 14060 would be ideal, but a 114060 is also welcomed if previously looked after or even better, a discounted new. But I'm yet to find any dealer discount a Rolex, especially a Sub. All the interest free credit jewellers always say, oh no, not on a Sub. Interest free on everything but.

For the record, that 14060 in Watford still sits in the window at £4700GB, in great condition, from what I can see, but anyone can polish up a watch, but they won't budge on the price. And I'll bet it'll still be there in another 6 months. What a waste...I'd have reduced it by now |

Have you looked on ebay UK? There's several 14060/14060m's offered for way under £4K and all from dealers with bricks and mortar shops. As long as you show due diligence with the seller you should have a good choice of the Submariner you seek.
My choice would be and was the 14060 with the T25 dial two liner, my first Rolex also via ebay. |

Thanks. No. Not looked on there as I've never bought anything from it. Wouldn't trust it, but if you say they are visitable shops. I'll have a look. The usual suspects like Watch****r and Watch** are also asking for silly money but do have a shop.

I've seen several 14060s in the for sale section on this site close to $4k USD...you have to watch but they're out there. Keep looking, IMO.

Thanks, but not many willing to ship to UK, and risky costs at this end too
