My gibson flying v: love it

Hi Guys and Gals

Just got this beauty and i love it. I have named it "Kitten" due to the plush case it came in.

Appreciate any tips on maintaining/playing it as its quite different from my strat. Great sound and feel!

Cheers

Congrats to a great guitar.

I just watching Joe Bonamassa and now I feel I want to grab a guitar and play some riffs.

Hey Guys

Thanks for the well wishes. Heres the low down:

1. Purchased brand new in Melbourne from a Gibson AD for $1500 AUST Dollars (i got tax free at the airport). Its a great price as they retail around 2000 plus.

2. Its a "1967 Ebony Gibson Flying V" reissue.

3. Hard case with all the goodies which is very nice.

4. Plays awesome, i feel like Hendrix, Albert King and Metallica rolled into one, it just sings.

5. I have a little Marshall Amp and an effects pedal so i get heaps of cool sounds.

6. Its a very ncie contrast to the "twang" of my Fender Strat.

The best thing is becuase of its design you can play it really well down the neck and its very very light so i can stand up and play it.

Nothing like humbuckers through a Marshall IMO! Strats don't sound too shabby either!

Daayymmmnnn I want one

I played the flute for 6 years in high school, what an idiot I was, if only I had got an electric guitar, I would have had all the girls

Do you guys know the coolest guitar solo in the world? I do.

So Dondrix what's the Amp worth, how big is it, what did it cost, and when did you last get a hearing checkup

Coolest guitar solo would have to be Kirk Hammet's "in one go under pressure to record" solo to the "unforgiven".

Its only a 15 watt Marshall Steve, i move around so much i havent bought anything bigger, but yes i am due for a ear check-up very soon Lol :)

Steve its time for Custom Shop Fender Strat mate :) you know you want one...

I'm not saying this is the coolest, but it is a great you tube, this dude can rock.

I am sorely tempted to go out and lay down $5k on a Slash signature Les Paul Standard.

The song does get progressively better. Do yourself a favour, take 5 minutes to listen to the whole song, you will love it.

I think this Gibson Les Paul has excellent tonal qualities and great sustain.

If I was to get a Fender, I think it would be a Telecaster.

dude is using a Gibson Les Paul Studio, Les Paul Standards are a lot better especially with a Marshall Amp!

Don, that would be great, but I need to do some practice first

Erwin, you must know your guitars if you can identify this as a LP 'signature'. I thought it was an LP but beyond that I had no idea.

Evidently the Slash LP has Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro-II humbucker pickups that sound great, and have excellent sustain, or so I am led to believe

Thanks, Steve. Used to be into vintage Fender's [still have a 1951] and G&L ASAT basses. Now I've been leaning toward hollowbodys.
Bass guitars are addicting like watches except less expensive but take up more room.

That red guitar is so cool, and it matches the chair perfectly, very retro

O.K. my favorite guitar solo song is "Standing in the Darkness" by the Jonny Van Zant Band. The song was a dedication to the brother of Jonny, Ronnie who was the founder of Lynard Skynard and unfortunately died in a plane accident.

Listern to that song, it is my all time favorite.

Actually they're orange but my camera says different.

My favorite guitar solo is from "Hand Of Fate" on The Rolling Stones album: Black And Blue. It's an often over looked yet classic record. The guitarist was Wayne Perkins and that was the best thing about The Stones. With all the sex, drugs, and other forms of distraction Mick and Keef put the music first. Didn't matter who played what on which recording, the best take always won out.
I had the pleasure of meeting him when my band opened for Lonnie Mack.
