Tudor Oyster Royal 1182 eta movement help!
Hi,
New boy here, Firstly apologies for the no pictures I am on a mobile and I cannot upload if pictures are required (maybe not in this case) let me know and I'll put some up when I have access to a PC. I have a lovely tudor oyster royal calibre 1182 eta. The watch needs a complete new balance as it is snapped at one end. I'm looking at getting a donor movement as I believe some other eta will fit the 1182. Can anyone tell me what movements would fit onto the 1182? Many thanks SB |

It appears that the ETA 1080-1 balance is what you need. It's for Inca Bloc.
Shock balances generally interchange as it is just a stepping of the staff that allows easy passage inside the shock jewel mounting receiver in the plate and bridge. At any rate the 1080 is the base movement from what I can gather. New ones are available pretty easily I think. They aren't expensive. |

It looks as though there are a few variants of the balance...likely depending on the type of shock system they use.
The 1080-1 is inca bloc. I'm not familiar enough with the watch or the movement to know. It seems to have some strange shock system from the photos that I found. Is your entire balance bad or just the staff broken? http://www.watchpartsplus.com/wordpr...ce-complete-13 Now sometimes the stud will be different. You just have to look. |

The balance is actually ticking away strongly and keeping great time whilst flat it's just when it's tilted the watch stops, my jeweler recommended me getting a full new balance not just the staff due to the convenience of just putting it on.
The stud does that make any difference at all? |

Well if the stud is the wrong shape you would have to get the watchmaker to swap the stud from you old one...which is tedious and risky.
It could be the same. I have no idea. When a company contracts movements from an Ebauche they often make specs slightly different. The parts are the same but like a stud might be different because of the stud holder on the balance cock. It's just not a movement I work with at all. I'm not familiar enough with the ins and outs of this watch to know. Just hoping to point you in a successful direction. :-) |
