Does this malachite look correct?
It didn't last on the bay for 24 hours (mysterious "not available" pulled listing from a banned RF member). Despite the troublesome coronet and spacing, it had potential - but malachite is just so rare, it's hard to tell.
Am I the only one getting exhausted from trying to determine if color/texture is wrong...or if the sellers are just bad photographers? cheers - and thanks! |

Hard to tell from that pic, have you got any better pics. These are rarely faked as it's to expensive for tooling, but there is at least one guy making fake onyx so you can't be sure without a good look at the text and rear of the dial if possible

here is the now defunct listing
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Malach...vip=true&rt=nc Rather vague description. Originally was just the second two pictures - flip side looked legitimate, although no guarantee it was the real flipside. There is company called "wannabuyawatch" that sells custom malachite that look quite good. I'm not 100% sure about the seller's origin, but it seems to be an odd coincidence that the location is a town of about 1100 people in rural Georgia - the same town as a prolific ex member (almost 6000 posts) that was banned. We have a saying around election time - "If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck..." |

It does look correct from what I see on the picture.

Too hard to tell from those bad pictures. For me the price, even though it was a auction, is the giveaway.
