Tudor Ranger Question
Hey Trf,
When winding the Tudor ranger heritage.... Which direction should I wind? I came from panerai and Rolex... Winding the Tudor counter clockwise makes the same clicking winding noise while winding clockwise seems loose without clicks but more scratchy noise. Help! |

The Ranger uses an ETA 2824 movement so it should wind CW.

Yeah I figured that's the case but it just feels funny winding the watch without a clicking noise while winding.... Maybe too much panerai influence?

That noise and feeling is a trait of the ETA 2824 movement. My ranger does it as does my Hamilton which also has a 2824.

I would add that the ETA 2824 is a rock solid movement.

I don't love the winding action either on my Ranger but seems to get the job done. I threw out a question a few months ago where my hacking mechanism may not be perfect. Ive had the crown pulled out "all the way" (or so I thought) and then had the seconds had start to move again while winding. I should probably take it in.....

My Ranger does as well. But I have a Ball Worldtimer with a 2836 (2824 with day complication) base movement and it winds quite smoothly. From what I've read on the WUS watchmaking forum, the 2824 is not made for a lot of hand winding. I just start it going by hand or winder and then depend upon wrist action.

Another plus point of this movement is that it's easy to get it repaired and parts are plentiful |

My BB does the same, it worried me at first too but got reassurance from reading this forum
