Who Rocks a Datejust II as a Daily Wearer?
I currently only have one Rolex, a 16610 Submariner. I find it's a great watch for dressing up, and for where I mostly reside, in a dressed down (t shirt and jeans) state.
I want to add another Rolex to my stable, and am currently fixated on a Datejust II 116334, rhodium with diamond dial. I am curious how many people rock this watch, or any other DJII as a daily wearer in a casual enviroment. I am in a t and jeans 90% of the time, and I keep reading "dress watch" so I guess it's in my head now it'd be odd to have it as a daily "casual" watch. |

I wear my DJII fluted, rhodium dial, arabic numerals as my daily. During the week, I'm typically dressed business casual or jeans. Weekends I wear anything from gym clothes or jeans and a t-shirt to a suit/tux (for events) and it still stays on the wrist.
Others may not agree, but extremely versatile in my book. |

I rotate my watches but I can wear the DJ2 for weeks in a row sometimes - this involves wearing it with a suit for work.
It's dressy, but clearly it's not a dress watch. |

I did for a short time when I owned a 116333. A great watch which takes into account the current popularity of large watches while remaining true to the style of the Datejust. It will work as a daily, but just not for me as I found it to be a little too large for my liking.
It is not a dress watch by any means. It works very well with a suit, but most likely will work better with casual or business casual attire. |

Tried it and hated it. Sold it for a sub date C. Much happier.

All day every day. I have the smooth bezel, so it never even gets a second glance. Much more under the radar than a sub IMO. I am always casual, and only wear a suit maybe twice a year. It's a great daily wear!

My DJ ii sees most of my wrist time, along with my Black Bay Blue. I wear the DJ with business casual, suits, and jeans and t-shirts and it looks and feels great.

I rocked my DJII daily in rotation with my GMT. I sold it so I don't have it anymore but I could easily see myself buying it back.

I'm in the same boat as you, attire wise... Polos, jeans, etc... I wear and love the sport models, but also really like the 'dressier' pieces as well. I think I've found my sweet spot, or comfortable go-between. I've recently acquired a YG/panda dial, Daytona and have a TT/slate dial Daytona on the way(plan to put it on leather) I've found the Daytona as covering all bases needed. I still have a couple SS models as well. Just my thoughts.

I love mine...and I think with the black dial and fluted bezel it's the one Rolex that competes with the Royal Oak self-winding 41.

Only in world where folks are arguably a bit obsessed with Rolex sports watches is the DJII referred to as a dress watch. It is nowhere close to a dress watch. It is shiny though!
I love it, and the rhodium dial is beautiful. I think you should scratch the itch. |

You can wear it dressed down, but diamonds on the dial exclude from a T shirt and shorts IMO. Most importantly if you like it don't worry about us. Rock it!

I think the smooth bezels are a little less "dressy", or more "sporty", depending on how you look at it. Either dresses up or down and is quite versatile, though.

Last year I eloquantly argued the reasons why I believe the DJii is the most versatile piece in the Rolex lineup. Specifically:
1. It has the girth to "compete" with a Royal Oak; 2. It is a sports watch - you can wear it on the beach and take it under water a bit; 3. It is a dress watch - great with suit; 4. The choice of smooth/fluted let's you set the tone of the watch and lean it toward sporty or dress; 5. It's wears boldly on the wrist without being overbearing. 6. The white gold is discrete; 7. Two-tone is an option. 8. It has a complication (date). |

I wore a GMT II for many years, briefly had a SS Daytona and sold it for my DJII TT. I wear it everyday dressed up or down and love it. A classic piece.

One piece I forgot to mention is a worry for the scratches due to the PCL's. How often do U guys polish your DJII's?

I wear mine mainly on the four days a week I wear a suit but I think it also looks great when I am dressed down.

That was the plan until I found hairline scratches on the clasp despite treating it more carefully than a newborn baby. Seldom gets any wrist time now. Daily wearer Sub-C.

You don't worry about such things nor do you polish it. You wear it and enjoy it. Do a search for one of Dr. Tom's old posts called "battle hardened." That is the right way to look at wearing a watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This picture rocks! Possibly best picture of this DJ II, and I normally don't like the smooth bezel on this model. |
