I always arrive early for any appointment allowing for unforeseen delays and really dislike it when others are late.

Sadly being fashionably late seems to be the norm now days.

I am nearly always early.

If for some reason I'm not, I'm sure to make my appointment aware.

I don't get annoyed at too much, but when someone is chronically late, it bothers me.

All we have got is time. If someone is always late, they are clearly stating that their time is more important than mine.

That said, my guess is that this thread will spend time in the open discussion.

My motto, if you're not 15 minutes early, you're late - of course that's for business meetings. For casual get togethers on time.

Grew up always being 15 minutes early and hated it. Couldn't understand why our mum did that. As an adult it makes sense to me and I aim to be 10-15mins early for everything. The wife doesn't get it though...ha.

The clock tower at Lambeau Field in Green Bay is set to "Lombardi Time"--15 minutes early. Grew up in that environment, so I am always early.

yes am always on time and yes my watch plays a part in this .. but never 15 mins early.. can understand having some contingency but not the need to aim to be 15 mins early, if the person wanted me 15 mins before the time they stated, they could have asked

and yes i hate lateness very much although these days can always get something done on the iphone, emails/stocks/rolexforums

I tend to arrive early as I hate the stress of arriving somewhere late. I'd rather wait than let others do so.

Yes, when it comes to business, meetings, etc.

However, in San Diego 10-15 min. after the time you agreed to meet seems to be the norm with fiends.

With or without a watch on my wrist, I am prompt to a fault and have had many an argument with the Mrs about being ready on time to leave... I lost every argument and am only on time when going somewhere alone

If it is work, or any business appointment, or a scheduled event (wedding, church, concert), I am unfailingly early. Never, ever late.

This was a problem between my wife and me many years ago. So much so that I learned to tell her that arrival times were 30 minutes before the actual scheduled tomes, so that she could dilly-dally, and I could still be punctual.

For social events, the degree of being fashionably late depends on the event. For a pool and beer party, a half-hour is good. For a formal dinner in someone's home, 5-10 minutes late for aperitifs is about right, for a cocktail party, 15 minutes is about right.

Funny, my peer group (often career military types) will sometimes show up for a pool and beer party 15-30 minutes early.
